But if you are in a hurry...

1. In your Firefox address bar, enter the following text: about:config

2. Scroll down to the entry titled browser.cache.memory.enable and make sure the Value is set to true. If it’s not, double-click anywhere in the browser.cache.memory.enable line and the status will change to true

3. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu

4. Enter browser.cache.memory.capacity in the New integer value pop-up box

5. You’ll need to enter a number in the Enter integer value, but that number depends on how much memory you have (specifically, how much you want to 'give' Firefox). If you have 256MB or less RAM, enter 4096 as the value. If you have 512MB of RAM, enter 6144 or 8192. If you have 128MB or less RAM, you may want to consider upgrading - memory is getting very inexpensive.

6. Confirm that the new entry has been created and the integer value is correct

7. If for any reason you wish to restore the default settings, change the browser.cache.memory.capacity integer value to -1 (that’s minus one).

Abstruse.

My father was neither rich nor well educated. From the stories he told of his days in public school, I’m not sure how he ever graduated. Perhaps he never did. Nevertheless, he loved words, and he thought that a good vocabulary was more valuable than money because no one could take it away. He taught me poems I’ve never found in books. He taught me multiplication: “Eight eights are eighty-eight; you can have it for sixty-four.” But most importantly, he taught me to love words, and one of the first words he taught me was “abstruse.” I love the way it slithers off my tongue and sloshes around in my ear. I doubt if I’ve used it six times in conversation during the fifty years I’ve owned it, but I wouldn’t give it up because it’s the seed my father planted, and its blossoms have brightened all my days.

Learn to remember names. A name is very important to someone. If you don’t take the time to learn someone’s name, it indicates that you’re not interested in him or her. When someone remembers your name, it gives you the feeling that you are interesting or important.

Be easy going and natural. When you are stiff, reserved or unresponsive, you unconsciously build up a barrier. But when you are easy going and natural it is easy for people to like you.

Be interesting. Have something to talk about that people find interesting or stimulating. This way people want to be with you.

Don’t have a big ego. If you give the impression that you know it all, that you are superior, you make it hard for people to like you. Be normally humble.

Do some self-study and get rid of negative attitudes. People can consciously or unconsciously pick those up and they might find it irritable to be around you.

Always look for the positive qualities in a person. Getting people to like you is merely the other side of liking them.

Try to build up someone’s ego. Make compliments. Congratulate upon someone’s achievement, or express sympathy when they are in sorrow or if they feel disappointed. The ego is a sacred thing; every human being has the desire to feel important. When you deflate someone’s ego, you are wounding him deep inside.

Give strength to people, support them. Help them to be stronger and they will give you affection.

Whether you like to admit it or not, we want people to like us. If someone tells you that he does not really care if people like him or not, he simply is not being honest. The longing to be liked is one of our deepest desires. We want to be popular, we want people to speak nothing but good of us and we want to have affection of the people around us. It is in our human nature.

Web 2.0 style buttons

Nowadays Web 2.0 style becomes more popular. Every day tons of sites which has simple, bright and very interesting things, appear in Network. There are no standards about creating any Web 2.0 elements, but we have several typical features, for example and clean colors, many gradients.

Today I want to show you how to create Web 2.0 styled button using Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Open the Photoshop, create new document for the button.
Create shape for future button using Rounded Rectangle tool on toolbar, specify round radius.
Right click on rectangle layer in Layers palette, choose Blending Options.
Set the Gradient Overlay effect parameters. I have following color of first and second thumb: 434343, third – 000000.
You can find Stroke effect parameters below. Stroke color is 363636.
Set the Inner Glow effect options.
As the result you will get following image:
Create rectangle using Rounded Rectangle tool, it will be used as button glare.
Right click on “glare” layer, choose Rasterize Layer.
Click Edit in Quick Mask Mode on toolbar.
Choose Gradient Tool, create gradient like following:
After leaving quick mask mode, you will get selection area. Click Delete button.
Add layer with text “Entries RSS” and RSS icon. Set Drop Shadow effect parameters.

Now you got following button:

After changing different effects parameters, adding or changing elements, I got following buttons:

So you want to be more creative, in art, in business, whatever. Here are some tips that have worked for me over the years:

1. Ignore everybody.
2. The idea doesn't have to be big. It just has to change the world.

3. Put the hours in.

4. If your biz plan depends on you suddenly being "discovered" by some big shot, your plan will probably fail.

5. You are responsible for your own experience.

6. Everyone is born creative; everyone is given a box of crayons in kindergarten.

7. Keep your day job.

8. Companies that squelch creativity can no longer compete with companies that champion creativity.

9. Everybody has their own private Mount Everest they were put on this earth to climb.

10. The more talented somebody is, the less they need the props.

11. Don't try to stand out from the crowd; avoid crowds altogether.

12. If you accept the pain, it cannot hurt you.

13. Never compare your inside with somebody else's outside.

14. Dying young is overrated.

15. The most important thing a creative person can learn professionally is where to draw the red line that separates what you are willing to do, and what you are not.

Verbotomy: How to Play

Verbotomy is about creating words.

Every day we create a new definition and matching cartoon. Your challenge is to create a word -- a verboticism -- that matches the definition. After you create your verboticism, you can vote for, or against, other player's words to help select the winning verboticism for the definition.

If you want more details, click on each step listed below.

1. Read the definition

Each day we publish a new definition and cartoon on the site.

2. Create a new word

After you read the definition, try to think of a new word — a verboticism — that would be a perfect fit.

The new verboticism must be all letters (a-z), all-one-word, with no spaces, dashes, numbers, or special characters.

Ideally your new verboticism will not match any existing dictionary-words (i.e., it is new and different), but this is not an absolute requirement.

The best verboticisms are pronounceable, and hint at the meaning.

3. Save your word

When you submit your verboticism, you will get an instant verbotometry. This rates your verboticism based on its spelling, match to existing dictionary-words, and uniqueness.

Your verboticism may be a unique. Or, it may match a verboticism already submitted by another player. Authors of matching verboticism will automatically be joined together as co-creators of the word. (Each co-creator will get equal credit.)

Once you are happy with your verboticism, save it.

VERBOTOMICS:
After you save your verboticism, you can add notes to clairify the pronounciation, show sample use in a sentence, and explain its etymology — the root words or creative inspiration. (Each creator of the verboticism can edit these notes.)

4. Vote for your favorite words

Each player gets two votes, but you cannot vote for your own word.

DEFINITION: An often debilitating condition characterized by compulsive, repetitive and obsessive reading of product documentation and warranties.
