clipper's remarks: Ax-les-Thermes is situated 2300 ft. up in the Midi-Pyrenees in the south of France - close to Andorra and the Spanish border. It is beautifully surrounded by lush mountains, meadows and rivers.
The town is besides from being a mountain-spa-town, and famous for its many warm sulphur springs, also the main starting point for walking holidays in the Pyrenees Mountain.

Exploring the Pyrenees by foot is rewarding for bird-watchers who are likely to see vultures and eagles, and if plants are your thing, you can find more than 3.000 species of flora.

Besides from walking in breathtaking surroundings the area of Ax-les-Thermes has a lot more to offer. Being so close to Andorra - crossing the border for shopping or a visit to the casino is a possibility. So is visiting the castle at Montsegur approximately 40km away.

Getting to Ax-les-Thermes can be done by road or train. The railway station is on avenue Delcassé and you can get direct night train from Paris. The nearest airports are Toulouse Blagnac and Carcassonne.

Andalucia - A Life Changing Experience

If anybody had told me in the late nineties that I would emerge on an adventure in the new millennium...unlike anything I had ever experienced before, I would have laughed loud and wishful.

Loud because it simply would have seemed unlikely - wishful because a part of me had always been adventurous and bohemian...

In other words I found it rather unlikely that I, a 43 year old single parent to a teenage girl would leave my home and my country and wander off to the adventure of a lifetime - but never the less........Why don't we start at the beginning!

If we wanted to go? Are you pulling my leg? It didn't take me five seconds to visualize a sun drenched hacienda surrounded by swaying palm trees and orange trees in blossom. A place where I would finally be able to find that "ambiance of beyond time" that I needed to write.

But I didn't have a pension to bring with me to Spain.

How would I be able to make a living?
