The need for coddling means the state will use public education for this end, and align itself against churches that refuse to recognize same-sex "marriage."

State-ordered gay "marriage" is an attack, not only on legitimate marriage, but upon religious freedom and the freedom not to have one's children indoctrinated into alien ideas about marriage.

In Michigan, a homosexual man is suing two Christian publishers—Zondervan and Tyndale House—for $70 million dollars. Bradley Fowler claims they violated his constitutional rights and caused him "emotional distress" by publishing versions of the Bible that call homosexuality a sin.

As Seana Sugrue explains in The Meaning of Marriage,

marriage is a pre-political institution, rooted in biology and moral obligations. Sugrue writes, "The reality of sex differences between men and women, leading to the potential for offspring, is essential to the pre-political foundation of marriage."

But marriage as a political form of social order, independent of the state, "is precisely what advocates of same-sex 'marriage' seek to change," according to Sugrue. "Marriage rooted in procreation and sexual differences is to be replaced by marriage for the gratification of two consenting adults."

But unlike traditional marriage, "same-sex 'marriage' requires a condition of soft despotism to exist," Sugrue warns.

The executive director of the Presbyterian Lay Committee says the recent meeting of the Presbyterian Church (USA) highlighted a disregard for historic Reformed standards and a failure to glorify Jesus Christ.

During its recent meeting in San Jose, California, the highest governing body of the PCUSA voted in favor of a proposal that would allow for the ordination of non-celibate homosexual men and women. The General Assembly also initiated a process to revise the Heidelberg Catechism to delete the Bible's prohibition against homosexuality.

"Some churches are looking to withhold per capita giving from the denomination, essentially refusing to fund any denominational activities, and are redirecting their giving to missions [with] which they are familiar and which they trust," Burge explains. Unless the PCUSA reverses course, he says, it is in danger of extinction.

Revivalist stirring controversy

clipper's remarks: The bible clearly states that when Jesus walked the earth he healed many of "every affliction". The early disciples have recorded in the bible of people who where healed and raised from the dead. Therefore it is or at least was a ministry preformed by both Jesus and his early disciples.

The main focus of Jesus' ministry as well as the early disciples was the 'preaching of the kingdom of God' and not the ministry of healing. Healing came as a result of seeking Jesus or the kingdom of God.

Like this article states Jesus did warn of many false prophets who would arise preforming miracles in attempts to mislead and deceive.

It was interesting to read in this article that of all the people who were reportedly healed at this 'revival' Mr Bentley only produced a list of 15 people who could verify such healing. And yet thousands have attended the revival.

Personally I believe God can heal anyone if He chooses to but the bible says 'Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousne

LAKELAND, Fla. - Todd Bentley believes God acts through him to cure cancer, heal the deaf and raise the dead.

So do hundreds of thousands of people who have visited his raucous revival meeting, now in its third month and broadcast nightly from a huge tent in the middle of Florida.

The 32-year-old Canadian, tattooed to the fingers and neck, puts a palm to the forehead of the sick, desperate and faithful. Bentley yells "Bam!" they collapse and he proclaims them cured. Attendees dance in the aisles, shout to Heaven, laugh, shake violently and cry.

Christian critics say he rarely opens a Bible or sermonizes about Jesus Christ. They worry he is too little about conversion, too heavy on his own hype and too focused on self-proclaimed miracles.

Jesus warned that 'many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.'"

Sinner Sues Bible Manufactor

After all if the bible did not speak against adultery well then there would not have been any grounds for the divorce. It is all God's fault after all.

A homosexual man has filed a $70 million lawsuit against Bible publishers Zondervan and Thomas Nelson, alleging that their version of the Bible that refers to homosexuality as a sin violates his constitutional rights and has caused him emotional distress.

Bradley LaShawn Fowler, an ex-con turned author, filed the federal suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on Monday, the same day a judge refused to appoint him a lawyer for his suit against Thomas Nelson, The Grand Rapids Press reported.

Fowler, who is representing himself in both cases, claims that Zondervan manipulated Scripture by using the term "homosexuals" in 1 Corinthians 6:9 of their 1982 and 1987 revised edition Bibles. He also contends that the reference to homosexuality were deleted by the publisher in later versions without informing the public.

He alleges that since the older Kings James Version containing the term "homosexuals" is used by his family pastor, he has been outcast by his family.

clipper's remarks: This is just another example of a man-made god. Taking the parts we like from all religious practices and mixing them together to form a hodgepodge of beliefs that Jesus warned against. Jesus declared unashamedly that he was the way the truth and the life not just one of many.

Man loves to remake God into their own image, changing the absolute rightness of God for a rightness that suits each individual. The salad bar analogy works good here because the tendency of people is to take what they like and leave what they do not like. Most times it is the food that is best for us that we leave on the salad bar.

Religion today in the USA is a salad bar where people heap on upbeat beliefs they like and often leave the veggies — like strict doctrines — behind.

There are so many ways of seeing God, public policy expert Barry Kosmin says, that "the highest authority is now the lowest common denominator."

"Americans believe in everything. It's a spiritual salad bar," says Rice University sociologist Michael Lindsay. Rather than religious leaders setting the cultural agenda, today, it's Oprah Winfrey, he says.

"The impact of Oprah is seen throughout this survey. She uses the language of Bible and Christian traditions and yet includes other traditions to create a hodgepodge personalized faith. Exclusivism (one religion has the absolute and exclusive truth) has gotten a bad name in America today," he says.

Because the Bible addresses humanity body and soul, there's nothing sacrilegious about examining every aspect of human nature under heaven, say scholars Steven McKenzie, professor of Hebrew Bible at Rhodes College, a liberal arts college in Memphis affiliated with the Presbyterian Church USA, and John Kaltner, an associate professor of religious studies at Rhodes.

The trio delve into 23 well-known Bible tales. They start with a sassy retelling of a familiar story, then take academic hair-splitting to Olympian levels as they examine some outrageous interpretations posed by scholars from around the world, and conclude by assessing whether the new "spin" succeeds.

John Freshwater has been a teacher in the Mt. Vernon public schools for over 20 years. Twice he has been designated as “Teacher of the Year” by the School Board—most recently just last year. That was then. A few months ago it seems that a student in one of his classes made accusations that Mr. Freshwater was being too Christian in his class.

As a result, the School Board demanded that Mr. Freshwater remove a Bible that has been sitting on the corner of his desk for 21 years. You read that correctly, “sitting” on the corner of his desk. The teacher is not accused of reading it, proclaiming it, preaching from it. Nope—it just sits there. Evidently, that has offended at least one student, so the Bible has to go.

In direct defiance of his employer, Freshwater has refused to remove the Bible from the desk.

The Bible remains on his desk. Shortly after the initial confrontation over the Bible, approximately 75 percent of the students in the middle school brought Bibles to school

clipper's remarks: Some may not care if a leader of our country spouts off made-up biblical utterances but to me this just shows the dire dirth of knowledge present on capital hill. They call them misstatements but in reality they are lies plain and simple. No attempt is made by these 'leaders' to search out truth they just continually spout out falsehoods after falsehoods and the American people seem to just give them a pass.

I am not the smartest bird in the nest but this eagle can spot a doo doo bird simply enough. No wonder they became extinct. Perhaps we should send some of these congresspersons the way of the doo doo bird into oblivion.

On Earth Day, Nancy Pelosi quoted the Bible: “The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us honor the earth and our future generations with a commitment to fight climate change.”

Apparently, it’s a favorite verse of hers. She has used it in official statements on global warming, the budget, Martin Luther King Day, Christmas, and why she’s a Democrat. Jim Hoft has audio chronicles.

CNS News asked other Bible scholars for the source of the quote in the Old Testament that Nancy Pelosi keeps invoking.

They can’t find it either.

Bible Stories Bastardized by Anglican vicar

clipper's remarks: Okay correct me if I am wrong here but if these stories are so important that an new generation needs to hear them then why must we rewrite them and turn them into some trashy dime store novel? I mean can we not tell the story the way it is? I do not mind so much when some atheist insists on rewriting or interpreting the biblical stories of our faith from their perspective but when a member of the church decides to bastardize these sacred stories then I say ENOUGH ALREADY!

Some of the most popular stories in the Bible were recently re-written by a British Anglican vicar, including the story of Goliath, who in the retelling is a celebrity binge drinker.

The Rev. Robert Harrison of St. John’s Church in northwest London is behind the reworking of the top 10 Bible stories that were chosen by a poll conducted by the Christian charity Scripture Union.

In Harrison’s book, The Must Know Stories, the tale of David and Goliath is retold from the perspective of Goliath, who is portrayed as a “depressed alcoholic” who is hung over on the day of battle with David, according to the U.K.-based Telegraph newspaper.

Meanwhile, the well-known story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is twisted so that Adam expresses his obsession with Eve’s naked body. The nativity story is also changed so as to have Jesus born in an overcrowded house instead of a manger, amid family tension stirred by Joseph’s aunt who is upset that Mary and Joseph are not married.

Sales of Bibles to Plant new trees

One of the world's largest Christian publishers announced that for copies of its new eco-friendly Bible sold between St. Patrick's Day and Arbor Day, it will make a donation toward planting a new tree.

Part of the proceeds from the campaign for "The Charles F. Stanley Life Principles Daily Bible" – Thomas Nelson, Inc.'s Bible Group's first eco-friendly Scripture – will be donated to the Arbor Day Foundation, the group said this week.

The announcement comes at the heels of Thomas Nelson's effort to completely transition to an eco-friendly Bible production. Last week, the publisher said it was undergoing a three to five-year makeover period, whereby it would phase out its use of synthetic covers and opt for cover made with recycled materials and “green” binding material.

25% of American Teen girls has an STD

The article goes on to deride abstinence teaching as incomplete. Perhaps what we really need to teach these young people is the sinfulness of recreational sex. The bible calls this fornication. Society calls it recreation.

CHICAGO - At least one in four teenage American girls has a sexually transmitted disease, suggests a first-of-its-kind federal study that startled some adolescent-health experts.

Only about half of the girls in the study acknowledged having sex. Some teens define sex as only intercourse, yet other types of intimate behavior including oral sex can spread some diseases.

Among those who admitted having sex, the rate was even more disturbing — 40 percent had an STD.

The overall STD rate among the 838 girls in the study was 26 percent, which translates to more than 3 million girls nationwide, researchers with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found. They released the results Tuesday at an STD prevention conference in Chicago.

clipper's remarks: Interesting how culture changes ones perspective. The things the bible calls sin does not seem to make the top 10 list. I guess the reason for that is most churches do not preach about sin anymore. So then society is left to it's own devises to come up with respectable behavior.

“Sin,” as defined by the research organization, is “something that is almost always considered wrong, particularly from a religious or moral perspective.” The study questioned more than 1,000 American adult respondents whether they believe in such a thing as “sin” and then asked them whether 30 different behaviors were sinful.

Out the list of 30 behaviors, adultery was most often described as a sinful behavior by American respondents (81 percent).

Following adultery was racism (74 percent); using “hard” drugs such as cocaine, heroine, meth, LSD, etc. (65 percent); not saying anything if a cashier gives you too much change (63 percent); abortion (56 percent); and homosexual activity or sex (52 percent) rounded out the top five behaviors most often considered sinful by Americans.

Other behaviors with significant moral objections included

reading or watching pornography

swearing

sex before marriage

harming the environment as a consumer

smoking marijuana

getting drunk

Scriptures are now an amusement park attraction

clipper's remarks: How sad it is to once again see the sacred word of God being depicted as an amusement park attraction. Once was not enough now apparently it is fashionable to create amusement parks in the name of Christianity. I guess this really should not be so surprising considering a good bit of televised religion is nothing more then infomercials and religious entertainment anyway.

Perhaps the churches should start charging admission to get inside to witness the great adventures of God up close and personal. Why not just turn the church houses into museums or tourist attractions?

Developers of a proposed Bible theme park in Tennessee met with area pastors this week to share information and receive feedback on a project that has met both support and opposition from the local community.

“There seems to be nothing sacred or off limits where capitalism is concerned,” Matthews said.

The brains behind the attraction, which would be dubbed Bible Park USA upon completion, have marketed the park as an “edutainment” experience, a mixed offering of education and entertainment, that will allow visitors to visualize familiar Bible stories and a taste of life in ancient biblical times. Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments would be depicted in a non-denomination and non-interpretive way.

“This is a family-friendly place,” he said. “The park is open for anyone who wants to come, including those who do not believe in the Bible. No one will be made to feel unpleasant because they have a different belief system.”

Why wouldn't the President of all people send a greeting from the GOD of all people? Jesus did not come to save just Christians He came to save all mankind. That includes the Muslims, Jews, Greeks, Atheists, Deists and any other religious or secular group of people in the world.

To me it only makes sense that the universal God should be presented all of mankind considering that is what Christmas really is all about.

God sent the very first Christmas card when He sent His son to be born in a manager. Emmanuel God is now with man. All men whether they believe in Him or not He still loves them and still reaches out to them.

Barbara Walters recently criticized a Christmas card she received from the White House this year for featuring a seven-line scripture from the Bible.

The card, signed by the President and Mrs. Bush, was among a small stack of Christmas cards showcased by Walters on last Thursday’s episode of ABC’s “The View.”

But the veteran anchor expressed dismay that President Bush and the First Lady would send out a “religious Christmas card” with a direct Bible verse from the Old Testament printed inside:

“You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.”

The Bible and Global Warming

I can certainly understand why neo-pagans like Al Gore believe, despite overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary, man-made, catastrophic global warming is the gravest threat to the planet.

What I can't understand is why people who claim to believe in the Bible as the inerrant, inspired Word of God do so.

the Bible explicitly states: "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."

It means God controls the world's temperature, not man. God controls the climate, not man. God controls the earth's "eco-system," not man. God controls our environment, not man.

It is so presumptuous and haughty of believers and non-believers alike to think man is in control of the destiny of the planet God created for us.

Yes, there will come a time when the Earth is destroyed – and intense heat will be the mechanism God employs.

We're talking about heat so severe it melts the very elements that comprise the Earth.
