Even Dems Do not want another Clinton in the White House

clipper's remarks: It would appear to a casual observer that the Democrats had decided on a nominee long before the election process got started. Changing state primaries to an earlier date to get Obama off to a quick start and disallowing two major states like Florida and Michigan seems to me to be an attempt to rig an election.

The whole democrat process of nominating a candidate seems to me to be a bit shady. Super delegates are there to do just that DECIDE on a candidate regardless of the voters wishes.

Wasn't it the Democrats who in 2000 were crying about ALL VOTES counting in Florida? And now the same people are crying that Florida votes do not count?

Does this mean Obama would be an illegitimate candidate? After all he does not have enough delegates to have actually won, therefore someone is going to MAKE him win.

Me thinks Ms Pelosi wants to be the Big Mamma in charge. Perhaps there is not enough room in the democrat kitchen for 2 women. What say you?

GARY, Ind. — It was midnight and the nation was still awaiting results from the Indiana primary, one of the biggest remaining prizes of the epic Democratic presidential battle between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

But as the clock ticked, the questions and accusations grew louder: What was wrong in Lake County? Was this more politics as usual in a county often suspected of harboring Chicago-style corruption?

Lake County's history of corruption raised concerns that something more suspicious had gone wrong.

In 1962, Attorney General Robert Kennedy called Lake County one of the most corrupt counties in the nation. In 2004, the state Supreme Court tossed out a mayoral election in East Chicago because of campaign misconduct that resulted in dozens of voter-fraud convictions.

How Government Regulation effects oil prices at the pump

Doesn't anybody study history anymore? It was not that long ago that the same ideas were floating around congress during the Carter years. Anyone remember the odd even gas days and the long lines at the pumps because of the government forced oil shortages of the 70's

Among other mistakes from that period, the government increased the taxes levied on domestic oil producers, as if that would somehow help.

The result was “reduced domestic oil production from between 3 and 6 percent, and increased oil imports from between 8 and 16 percent.”

The government also instituted price controls, which only served to create the notorious gas shortages of that era. Yes, price controls meant consumers could get cheaper gas — but only after waiting in long gas lines and only if stations didn’t run out first.

When it comes to soaring gasoline prices, we need a federal government that does less.

We need fewer restrictions on domestic oil drilling.

The only reason not to drill is the environmental concerns.

We also need less regulatory red tape affecting refineries and gasoline supplies.

It would be worthwhile to streamline the regulations that make it all but impossible to build a new refinery and more difficult and time-consuming to expand an existing one.

Simplifying or eliminating the federal requirements that dictate the recipe (actually a dozen different recipes) for fuel also would help.

Worst of all the federal requirements is the one requiring that corn-based ethanol be mixed into the gasoline supply. Not only does ethanol use raise the cost of driving, but diverting corn from food to fuel has raised food prices, as well.

Congress needs to start undoing the damage it has done. If it enacts more of the same instead, get ready for $4 or even $5 gas.

reading is in trouble today. Americans, particularly young Americans, limit themselves to information -- "data," in the cliche -- collected on a computer screen and in tiny letters on a cell phone. This holds serious risks. Digital information replaces knowledge, opinion is confused with fact, and wisdom is lost in a whirlwind of words, words, words -- many misused, others without substance.

Veritas goes unverified when the source is Wikipedia, the encyclopedia on the Internet that employs no fact-checkers. Keeping their students from plagiarizing from the Internet, complain university professors, is like trying to prevent a stampede with a wooden fence.

In one study of what 17-year-olds know of history and literature, the surveyors found mostly ignorance.

an education scholar who conducted the interviews, found that fewer than half could identify Job in the Old Testament or Oedipus in the plays by Sophocles.

Many had never heard of the novel "1984" or knew the meaning of "Orwellian."

Higher Learning earns a BS degree.

clipper's remarks: The stifling effect of racism and sexism allegations has led some to extremes.

Richard Peltz, an award-winning law professor at the University of Arkansas, felt trapped by accusations of racism. Peltz had alienated some of his black students in the following fashion:

1) he participated in a panel discussion on affirmative action and argued against it,

2) he displayed in class a satirical article from The Onion that mentioned, among other things, Rosa Parks’s death

3) he illustrated the unfairness of affirmative action policies by offering to give all minority students an extra point on a test just for signing a form.

It would appear that learning has been reduced to indoctrinating students into a pre-set ideologies. Any deviation from the PRACTICED NORM is met with opposition. I thought learning was best nurtured in an environment that did not stifle alternative viewpoints but actually encouraged such.

Americans pay dearly to have our kids indoctrinated by the university's p.c. police.

At Colorado College in Colorado Springs, a couple of insouciant students circulated a flyer that parodied one distributed by the Feminist and Gender Studies program. The FGS flyer called itself the “Monthly Rag” (charming) and reportedly advertised a lecture on “feminist porn” and carried an approving mention of “castration.” The student parody flyer, the “Monthly Bag,” referred to “tough guy wisdom,” the range of a sniper rifle and “chainsaw etiquette.”

The students responsible for the parody were at first threatened with expulsion, which was later reduced to a violation of the college’s student-conduct policy on (get ready for it) “violence.”

Translation: If someone uses words you find offensive, he has committed an act of violence.

Natural Theology, published in 1802 by William Paley, discussed the evidence for design using the "inferred watchmaker" analogy. The majority of scientists at that time professed belief in a Creator, in one way or another. This was reflected in their studies. To some extent, design was assumed.

Evolution lacked a reasonable engine to drive biological change. When Charles Darwin published "The Origin of Species" in 1859, those who preferred evolution had a seemingly plausible mechanism to explain it - natural selection.

Almost 150 years later, the scientific community at large speaks of the "facts" of evolution. Those who propose non-natural causes for biologic effects are soon branded as "ignorant," "superstitious," or "closed-minded."

Oil Shock: When it comes to energy policy, Democrats always talk a good game. But look at their actual record while in control of Congress in the last year and a half. It's been nothing short of disastrous.

Wasn't it two years ago that then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi vowed, if her party took over Congress, to cut energy prices — especially gasoline?

How's that working for you? As the chart below shows, the cost of energy — measured by the price of West Texas Intermediate crude — is up more than 70%.

Ironically, we have plenty of oil — at least 10 billion barrels in Alaska's National Wildlife Reserve, 30 billion or so offshore and a whopping 1.2 trillion in Rocky Mountain oil-shale. But Democrats' extreme green ideology keeps us from drilling for it.

Democrats have focused instead on an insane global warming plan that would cost $1.2 trillion. Subsidies and other breaks for biofuels have helped send food prices soaring.

For this reason if for no other, none of them deserves re-election.

Broken Homes breaking the economic bank

clipper's remarks: Perhaps we are not willing to look at the real cost of broken homes. Being a product of a broken home myself I can personally state the high price I had to pay as a result of being raised in a fatherless home. The emotional scars and damage caused by the harmful effects of a parent leaving were hard to overcome. I am unable to calculate the actual financial cost the broken home had on myself but I can say for a surety that it certainly had an ill effect on it.

Now I am not saying to anyone to stay in a dangerous relationship but too many marriages are destroyed for no other reason then selfishness and unforgiveness. It is no better for the Christian home than it is for the non-Christian household it would appear.

Perhaps we need to spend more time and energy on making ourselves better spouses than trying to fix our 'better half'?

The Institute for American Values and the Georgia Family Council have just released a sobering study titled “The Taxpayer Cost of Divorce and Unwed Childbearing.” The study notes that while the debate on marriage usually focuses on its social, moral, and religious qualities, marriage is also an “economic institution.” It is a “powerful creator of human and social capital.”

Between 1970 and 2005, the percentage of children being raised in two-parent families dropped from 85 to 68 percent.

The principal causes of this drop were the high divorce rate and the increase in the number of out-of-wedlock births. While the number of divorces has declined slightly in recent years, the percentage of children born to unmarried mothers has continued to grow.

“Divorce and unwed childbearing create substantial public costs, paid by taxpayers.”

How much? A minimum of $112 billion a year.

in “increased taxpayer expenditures for antipoverty, criminal justice . . . education programs,” and lost tax revenues.

Wisconsin Elementary school's 'WACKY WEEK' stirs controversy.

It would appear from the participation that a minority of the students actually participated. Could this indicate that the majority thought it was just plain silly? Talk about WACKY WEEK! I think the only thing wacky about this week was the school district's idea of a wacky week.

REEDSBURG, Wis. (AP) - An elementary-school event in which kids were encouraged to dress as members of the opposite gender drew the ire of a Christian radio group, whose angry broadcast prompted outraged calls to the district office.

Students at Pineview Elementary in Reedsburg had been dressing in costume all last week as part of an annual school tradition called Wacky Week. On Friday, students were encouraged to dress either as senior citizens or as members of the opposite sex.

The dress-up day was not an attempt to promote cross-dressing, homosexuality or alternative gender roles, district administrator Tom Benson said.

The theme for Friday's dress-up day came from students, Hayes said.

About 40 percent of the student body dressed up Friday, Hayes estimated, with half portraying senior citizens and half dressing as the opposite sex.

Student Drawing of Cross censored in Wisconsin School

clipper's remarks: Art should be judged for its artistic merit not its content if you ask me. I think the drawing is very well done. Not being an artist myself I appreciate those who have that ability.

Forcing a student to draw subjects that may not be acceptable to them to me is a far worse offense then the student drawing a picture that MAY or may not offend someone else.

Art like music is a creation of the artist and should therefore be considered in light of the artists perspective and not from the perspective of the audience. At least that is what the defenders of porn use as a defense when promoting pornography and other offensive works of art. They say it is CREATIVE LICENSE. Well then this young person has the creative license as well. IMO

MADISON, Wis. — A Tomah High School student has filed a federal lawsuit alleging his art teacher censored his drawing because it featured a cross and a biblical reference.

The lawsuit alleges other students were allowed to draw "demonic" images and asks a judge to declare a class policy prohibiting religion in art unconstitutional.

The lawsuit also alleges school officials allow other religious items and artwork to be displayed on campus.

A Buddha and Hindu figurines are on display in a social studies classroom, the lawsuit claims, adding the teacher passionately teaches Hindu principles to students.

In addition, a replica of Michaelangelo's "The Creation of Man" is displayed at the school's entrance, a picture of a six-limbed Hindu deity is in the school's hallway and a drawing of a robed sorcerer hangs on a hallway bulletin board.

13 yr old teenager charged in prostitution crime

clipper's remarks: This story saddens me and sickens me at the same time. I have only one question and that is, is this club Metropolis still open for business? It should be burned to the ground. All patrons, workers, owners etc. should be arrested and charged with corruption of minors at the very least.

Oh you may say that is extreme but you can not tell me that NOBODY there knew this was not going on. Everyone present at the time of the arrest should be charged with something.

DALLAS — She's just 13 years old, a middle-schooler who is now facing charges involving a serious crime.

Police arrested the girl at a local nightclub where she was allegedly bringing other young girls to dance and to serve as prostitutes.

Investigators said the 13-year-old lured other girls to Club Metropolis, enticing them with the promise of money and even forcing some of them to dance and sell their bodies for sex.

Police estimate there are hundreds of teenage prostitutes on the streets of Dallas because there is a big demand. Recently, they found a 12-year-old girl dancing naked at a nightclub.

Police said the young girls aren't acting alone. They say some of the same people who are pimping out the adult prostitutes are the same ones exploiting young girls.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Controversy surrounding Barack Obama’s longtime minister is not deterring a Texas divinity school from honoring the Rev. Jeremiah Wright at a ceremony later this month.

But Texas Christian University, the campus where Brite Divinity School is located, issued a statement Monday opposing that decision in light of video that shows Wright delivering racially tinged sermons and him railing against the United States.

Wright is to be honored March 29 at the Black Church Summit and Awards Banquet, a $125-per-person banquet at the divinity school. Despite being on the TCU campus, Brite is a separate school with its own officers and board.

TCU chancellor Victor J. Boschini said that while the university supports the right of free speech even when the opinions are controversial, “giving an award is another matter.”

“In light of Reverend Wright’s recently discovered remarks, TCU would not give such an award,” he said.

25% of American Teen girls has an STD

The article goes on to deride abstinence teaching as incomplete. Perhaps what we really need to teach these young people is the sinfulness of recreational sex. The bible calls this fornication. Society calls it recreation.

CHICAGO - At least one in four teenage American girls has a sexually transmitted disease, suggests a first-of-its-kind federal study that startled some adolescent-health experts.

Only about half of the girls in the study acknowledged having sex. Some teens define sex as only intercourse, yet other types of intimate behavior including oral sex can spread some diseases.

Among those who admitted having sex, the rate was even more disturbing — 40 percent had an STD.

The overall STD rate among the 838 girls in the study was 26 percent, which translates to more than 3 million girls nationwide, researchers with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found. They released the results Tuesday at an STD prevention conference in Chicago.

Many congregations today are being seriously damaged and sometimes even destroyed by Christians who are more led by their own desires than by the Spirit of Christ.

Some Christians, both in leadership and in the pew, are becoming roadblocks to reaching our communities for Christ. Many are most concerned with their own comfort, desires, and wants. They say things like, “Well, I like small churches,” or “I think we ought to use hymns and hymnbooks,” or “I don’t think we need coffee and donuts.”

This selfish talk always begins with “I think . . .” Does anyone ever ask, “What does God want?”

Many churches have become stagnant or are in decline because of this epidemic of selfishness. Few ask the relevant question, “What will it take to reach my lost neighbors?”

The modern-day church lacks spiritual maturity. We need to recapture the heart of the early church that lived out this attitude: It’s not about me, it’s about them (the lost).

Against Law to Homeschool

I do not know how the public education system got so out of control in this country but I think it is about time we the people started to take back control of the things that matter in our society, starting with the education of our children.

Parents must have teaching credentials to educate their kids at home.

Advocates for homeschooling families vowed to appeal the decision to the state Supreme Court.
