Never compromise your integrity for anyone or anything.

2. Don't try to be all things to all people. Learn to say no
politely and pleasantly , but immediately and firmly.

3. Never wait for something to happen; make it happen! Do it
   now!

4. Do not be overwhelmed by the tasks before you. Don't try to
   do everything; just do something.

5. To accomplish your objective, first begin. Secondly,
concentrate exclusively on the project at hand. Third, don't
   stop.

6. Let circumstances dictate your priorities; let priorities
   determine your actions.

7. Focus your efforts on the root of the problem. Don't expend
energy on peripheral issues that are not crucial to producing
   results.

8. For maximum effectiveness, do only what you do best and let
   others do the rest.

9. Concentrate on long-term, permanent solutions rather than
   stop gap measures.

10. Don't waste time telling people what you are doing or what
you are going to do. Results have a way of informing the
   world.

11. Don't make promises you can't keep; once made, keep
   them.

12. Don't be tempted to take the easy way out. Have the
self-discipline to do the right thing rather than the instinctive
   thing.

13. Don't become lax; play every point as though it were
   matching point.

14. You are not through until you have dotted all the I's and
   crossed all the T's.

15. Avoid premature celebrations. You are not through till the
   check has cleared the bank.

Tags: principles, success, ways

<clipSource>http://www.businesspipeline.com/pressreleases/article_5.htm</clipSource>

70 Ways to Better Brain Power

clipped by: nhorn

Clip Source: www.mindpowernews.com

70
Ways to Increase Your Brain Power

        1. Breath deep. More air in means more oxygen in the blood and therefore
in the brain. Breath through your nose and you'll notice that you use
your diaphragm more, drawing air deeper into your lungs. Several deep
breaths can also help to relax you, which is conducive to clearer thinking.

        2. Meditate. A simple meditation you can do right now is just closing
your eyes and paying attention to your breath. Tensing up your muscles
and then relaxing them to start may help. When your mind wanders, just
bring your attention back to your breath. Five or ten minutes of this
will usually relax you, clear your mind, and leave you more ready for
any mental task. For more on meditation, you can visit http://www.TheMeditationSite.com.

        3. Sit up straight. Posture affects your thinking process. Prove it to
yourself by doing math in your head while slouching, looking at the floor
and letting your mouth hang open. Then do the mental math while sitting
up straight, keeping your mouth closed and looking forward or slightly
upwards. You'll notice that it's easier to think with the latter posture.

        4. Phosphotidyl Serine (PS). This supplement has been shown in clinical
studies to increase lucidity and rate of learning. It activates cell-to-cell
communication, helps regulate cell growth, improves the functioning of
the special receptors found on cells, and prepares cells for activity.
In other words, it can help your brain power. It's also thought to reverse
memory decline. Phosphatidylserine has no known adverse side effects.

5.Vinpocetine. This extract, derived from an alkaloid found in the Periwinkle
plant, is used as a cerebral vasodilator. It increases blood flow to the
brain, which improves its oxygenation and thereby increases mental alertness
and acuity. Research suggests it may also be the most powerful memory
        enhancer available to date.

Tags: brain

<clipSource>http://www.mindpowernews.com/BrainPower.htm</clipSource>

Massive Resource List for All Self-Learners

clipped by: cay002

Clip Source: www.eliteskills.com

Massive Resource List for All Autodidacts

Tags: resources, websites, free, education, learning

<clipSource>http://www.eliteskills.com/free_education/?foo=x</clipSource>

Steps of How to Hack Into a Computer

clipped by: Djiezes
clipper's remarks: http://www.vulnerabilityassessment.co.uk/Framework.png

Clip Source: www.vulnerabilityassessment.co.uk

Tags: hack, computer, howto, steps, visual, representation, image, overview, hacking

<clipSource>http://www.vulnerabilityassessment.co.uk/Penetration%20Test.html</clipSource>

Unlimited!
Web site MediaFire is a free file hosting service that allows unlimited file sizes and uploads, as well as unlimited downloads of files.

The service is really well made, especially the upload progress page, which gives you a nice view of your upload progress, speed, and estimated time to complete the upload. Add to that the unlimited everything for free, and you've got what looks like a pretty saucy file sharing service. In the wake of YouSendIt migrating to more of a pay service, a lot of readers have been looking for a new host; while there are a lot of options available (see the comments), MediaFire is the only one I've seen with the unlimited upload size. — Adam Pash

George Orwell has earned the right to be called one of the finer writers in the English language through such novels as 1984 and Animal Farm, such essays as “Shooting an Elephant,” and his memoir Down and Out in Paris.

George expressed a strong dislike of totalitarian governments in his work, but he was also passionate defender of good writing. Thus, you may want to hear some of George’s writing tips.*

A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus:

What am I trying to say?

What words will express it?

What image or idiom will make it clearer?

Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?

And he will probably ask himself two more:

Could I put it more shortly?

Have I said anything that is avoidably ugly?

One can often be in doubt about the effect of a word or a phrase, and one needs rules that one can rely on when instinct fails. I think the following rules will cover most cases:

Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.

Never use a long word where a short one will do.

If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.

Never use the passive where you can use the active.

Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.

Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.

* From “Politics and the English Language” by George Orwell.

The solution in this case is finding free stock photos something that isn’t always easy, in order to make this process easier I have compiled a list with sites that offer free stock photos. Enjoy
voice for a more thorough explanation of this topic.

6. Avoid overusing noun forms of verbs

Use verbs when possible rather than noun forms known as nominalizations.
Sentences with many nominalizations usually have forms of be as the main
verbs. Using the action verbs disguised in nominalizations as the main verbs--instead
of forms of be--can help to create engaging rather than dull prose.

7. Reword unnecessary infinitive phrases

Some infinitive phrases can be converted into finite verbs or brief noun phrases.
Making such changes also often results in the replacement of a be-verb
  with an action verb.

8. Replace circumlocutions with direct expressions

9. Omit words that explain the obvious or provide excessive detail

Be sure always to consider your readers as you draft and revise your writing.
If you find passages that explain or describe in detail what would already be
obvious to readers, delete or reword them.

10. Omit repetitive wording

Watch for phrases or longer passages in your writing in which you repeat words
with similar meanings. Below are some general examples of unnecessary repetition
contrasted with more concise versions, followed by lists and examples of specific
  redundant word pairs and categories.

Redundant Pairs

Redundant Categories

Tags: writing, write, howto, concise, short, tips, tricks, help, language, linguistics, list

<clipSource>http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/general/gl_concise.html</clipSource>

A Field Guide to Critical Thinking - 6 Rules

clipped by: Djiezes

Clip Source: www.csicop.org

A Field Guide to Critical Thinking

The six rules of evidential reasoning are my own distillation and
simplification of the scientific method. To make it easier for
students to remember these half-dozen guidelines, I've coined an
acronym for them: Ignoring the vowels, the letters in the word
"FiLCHeRS" stand for the rules of Falsifiability,
Logic, Comprehensiveness, Honesty, Replicability, and
Sufficiency. Apply these six rules to the evidence offered for any
claim, I tell my students, and no one will ever be able to sneak up on
you and steal your belief. You'll be filch-proof.

Falsifiability

It must be possible to conceive of evidence that would prove
the claim false.

Logic

Any argument offered as evidence in support of any claim must
be sound.

Comprehensiveness

The evidence offered in support of any claim must be
exhaustive -- that is all of the available evidence must be
considered.

Honesty

The evidence offered in support of any claim must be evaluated
without self-deception.

Replicability

If the evidence for any claim is based upon an experimental
result, or if the evidence offered in support of any claim could
logically be explained as coincidental, then it is necessary for the
evidence to be repeated in subsequent experiments or
trials.

Sufficiency

The evidence offered in support of any claim must be adequate
to establish the truth of that claim, with these stipulations:

the burden of proof for any claim rests on the claimant,

extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence, and

evidence based upon authority and/or testimony is always
       inadequate for any paranormal claim

James Lett

Tags: thinking, knowledge, skeptic, skepticism, logic, evidence, science, philosophy, falsifiability

<clipSource>http://www.csicop.org/si/9012/critical-thinking.html</clipSource>
