Just bookmark http://m.clipmarks.com/ and check the box "Load this bookmark in the sidebar".
Upon clicking the bookmark, it will open clipmarks mobile in your firefox sidebar, which fits perfectly.

You can also add other clipmarks-mobile sidebars like users / tags / search / folders(clipcasts) / ... . You just have to browse to the page you want to use in your sidebar & bookmark it using the described procedure.

Add a Google Reader sidebar

This is good news even if you don’t have an iPhone. Like other web apps designed for the iPhone interface, it fits very well in Firefox (and other browsers) sidebar.

And it’s pretty simple:

Open the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks/Organize Bookmarks…)
In Firefox 2, in the File menu, select New bookmark… In Firefox 3, press Organize in the toolbar and select New bookmark…
Enter a name, http://www.google.com/reader/i/ for location, and ensure to check Load this bookmark in the sidebar.
Press Save Changes and now you can select the bookmark to load Google Reader in the sidebar.

Where do you want to be in 5 years?

An IDP is a sort of agreement between an employee and their employer to work towards a set of goals together.

There’s no requirement that your develop an IDP in the context of a business, though. Anyone can put together an IDP that helps them work towards their personal goals.

Here’s what you need to do:

Take inventory:

focus on developing your strengths — not compensating for your weaknesses.

Write a mission statement (optional):

Do research:

identify the places

that offer what you need.

Develop two plans:

Figure out an assessment standard:

Reassess periodically:

Commit and take action:

commit to taking the first steps immediately.

consider how each of the following could fit:

Reading:

Networking:

Mentoring:

Ride-alongs/shadowing:

Outreach:

Reassignment/move to a new job:

The main point is to figure out what actions you could be taking and would like to take but aren’t.

How to install and boot 145 operating systems in a PC

The 145 systems are:-

put one operating system in one partition. As an extended partition of each hard disk has no storage of its own, one data-only partition is needed for my personal data, another data-only partition to house the common boot loader and one Swap partition is needed for all the Linux I ended up losing 7 partitions leaving 145 partitions to house the 145 operating systems.

use this Grub to boot up the boot loader of any of the 145 systems

It should be understood that I propose to install Grub “WITHOUT” being attached to any operating system! Grub cannot read a ntfs filing system so it should be installed into a fat16 or fat32 partition.

George Orwell has earned the right to be called one of the finer writers in the English language through such novels as 1984 and Animal Farm, such essays as “Shooting an Elephant,” and his memoir Down and Out in Paris.

George expressed a strong dislike of totalitarian governments in his work, but he was also passionate defender of good writing. Thus, you may want to hear some of George’s writing tips.*

A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus:

What am I trying to say?
What words will express it?
What image or idiom will make it clearer?
Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?

And he will probably ask himself two more:

Could I put it more shortly?
Have I said anything that is avoidably ugly?

One can often be in doubt about the effect of a word or a phrase, and one needs rules that one can rely on when instinct fails. I think the following rules will cover most cases:

Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.
Never use a long word where a short one will do.
If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
Never use the passive where you can use the active.
Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.
Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.

In order to facilitate preparation and finalization of high quality graphics in the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report and its summary reports the IPCC Secretariat has contracted a graphics specialist to prepare general guidance on the preparation of graphics, maps and figures. He is also available to authors and Technical Support Units upon request to provide assistance in preparing and improving graphics, maps and figures. Mr. Rekacewicz has been involved in IPCC work during the preparation of the TAR Synthesis Report. He is based at the UNEP Collaborating Center in GRID Arendal and can be contacted by e-mail at reka@grida.no.

This service is intended to complement the support, which provided to author teams by their respective Technical Support Units and authors should keep their Technical Support Units informed to avoid any overlap.

Running Linux Inside of Windows With QEMU

For Linux users who are stuck on Windows at work all day, it's easy to run a copy of Damn Small Linux in a window inside of Windows XP.

Go to the Damn Small Linux download page
Download the current version of dsl-embedded (the current version is Damn Small Linux 3.1 and the file is called dsl-3.1-embedded.zip)
Unzip the downloaded file
Double-click on the file called dsl-windows.bat

Damn Small Linux will then be running in a window on your Windows XP computer. It's really that easy. Check it out:

The window that Linux runs in is an emulator called QEMU. As soon as you click inside of the window, your mouse pointer will be locked inside of the QEMU window. To escape the pointer from the Linux desktop, press Ctrl-Alt. The mouse pointer will then shift back to the Windows XP desktop.

Sentences

Avoid saying the same thing twice.

Be alert for clauses or phrases that can be pared to simpler, shorter constructions. The "which clause" can often be shortened to a simple adjective. (Be careful, however, not to lose some needed emphasis by over-pruning; the word "which," which is sometimes necessary [as it is in this sentence], is not evil.)

Phrases, too, can sometimes be trimmed, sometimes to a single word.

Avoid using words such as really, very, quite, extremely, severely when they are not necessary. It is probably enough to say that the salary increase is inadequate. Does saying that it is severely inadequate introduce anything more than a tone of hysteria? These words shouldn't be banished from your vocabulary, but they will be used to best effect when used sparingly.

This sounds like something a politician has to learn to avoid, but, no, an expletive construction is a common device that often robs a sentence of energy before it gets a chance to do its work. Expletive constructions begin with there is/are or it is.

Further information about expletive constructions is available on our page on The Verb "To Be".

Be on the lookout for important sounding phrases that add nothing to the meaning of a sentence. Such phrases quickly put a reader on guard that the writer is trading in puffery; worse, they put a reader to sleep.

We also recommend Brian Murphy's Big List of Clichés, for a truly exhausting (but fun) list of things to avoid saying.
