Cruise is a vocal supporter and close friend of Scientology's worldwide leader, David Miscavige, who took over the reins of power when science fiction author and founder L. Ron Hubbard died in 1986.

Miscavige says Scientology can offer its followers greater ability in all areas of life, rid people of negativity, and make them "clear."

But some former members of the Sea Organization, or Sea Org (Scientology's version of clergy -- the group of people who essentially run the church), including a niece of Miscavige, see another side to the religion. They spoke to "Nightline" about how they became increasingly disillusioned with the Church of Scientology, until they decided it was time to leave.

Exscientologykids.com was created by three young women who used to be members of the church, including Jenna Miscavige Hill, who is a niece of Scientology's leader David Miscavige.

The attack on Scientology, which Anonymous has dubbed Project Chanology, started in recent days, set off by the Church's most recent attempt to censor the internet by forcing sites to remove a creepy Tom Cruise Scientology video. A wiki set up for the project directs Anonymous members to download and use denial of service software, make prank calls, host Scientology documents the Church considers proprietary, and fax endless loops of black pages to the Church's fax machines to waste ink.

Anonymous congregates on the net at various hangouts such as 711chan.org (NSFW) and partyvan.info and sundry IRC channels. The group usually amuses itself by stealing passwords to downloading sites and finding ways to harass online communities that its members disdain

Anonymous has also sent out a press release and issued this video manifesto:

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) — A Belgian prosecutor on Tuesday recommended that the U.S.-based Church of Scientology stand trial for fraud and extortion, following a 10-year investigation that concluded the group should be labeled a criminal organization.

Van Espen's probe also concluded that Scientology's Brussels-based Europe office and its Belgian missions conducted unlawful practices in medicine, violated privacy laws and used illegal business contracts, said Lieve Pellens, a spokeswoman at the Federal Prosecutors Office.

"They also face charges of being ... a criminal organization," Pellens said in a telephone interview.

An administrative court will decide whether to press charges against the Scientologists.

Scientology has been active in Belgium for nearly three decades. In 2003, it opened an international office near the headquarters of the European Union to lobby for its right to be recognized as an official religious group, a status it does not enjoy in Belgium.

Secondly, by now there is no actual lawsuit, but just a 'will you please start a case' advise. Then again, the advise is probably well-founded. The raid that underlies the current advise was executed - I think - some 8 years ago, so one might expect that quite some research has been conducted. Thirdly, what's terribly interesting is that the prosecutor seems to be co-operating with ex-members and is actually hoping to start not only a national case against CoS, but is also considering a case against international bodies of CoS.

Brussels puts squatters over Scientologists

To the annoyance of the church’s senior officials, a newly purchased three-storey property earmarked to become their Brussels HQ has been invaded by squatters.

But their anger with the illegal lodgers is nothing compared to their beef with the Brussels authorities, who have declared the church persona non grata and say they will not enforce eviction orders.

The Brussels building’s owner, property firm BBAI, represented by prominent American Scientologist Neil Levin, applied to have the squatters evicted to allow for renovation work and posted a security guard with a dog at the door.

But the company was told that private individuals have no right to replace the police in upholding the law in Belgium. And last Thursday a court ruled the eviction order invalid.

Two of Scientology's most famous proponents of remote viewing are Hal Puthoff and Ingo Swann, who researched the subject at Stanford Research Institute for the CIA in the 1970s. [7] [8] Most of the SRI team, including project director Puthoff, and the CIA's star "psychic spies", Price and Swann, were Scientologists, a fact that skeptic Martin Gardner noted disparagingly. Puthoff and Swann were Operating Thetan (OT) level seven, and credited Scientology with their success in the CIA remote viewing program. [9] [10]

Described in the Dianetics and Scientology Technical Dictionary as "a super fantastic, but confidential series of rundowns that can be done on anybody whether Dn Clear or not that puts the person into fantastic shape unleashing Super Power of a thetan. This means that puts Scientologists into a new realm of ability enabling them to create a new world."^[4] The Super Power Building is currently under construction in Clearwater, Florida for the specific purpose of administering this rundown.

The purpose of the edifice will be specifically for administering the Super Power Rundown, a high-level Scientology training course. The Dianetics and Scientology Technical Dictionary defines "Super Power" as:

"A super fantastic, but confidential series of rundowns that can be done on anybody whether Dn [Dianetics] Clear or not that puts the person into fantastic shape unleashing Super Power of a thetan. This means that puts Scientologists into a new realm of ability enabling them to create a new world. It puts world Clearing within reach of the future. This is a parallel rundown to Power in Saint Hills which is taken by the Dn Clear. It consists of 12 separate high power rundowns which are brand new and enter realms of the tech never before approached. Power is still very much in use on the Grade Chart but is for those who didn't go Clear on Dn." ^[6]
