As my eager-for-the-business architect said, "Why not? If the ocean destroys your house, the government will pay for a new one."

What? Why would the government do that? Why would it encourage people to build in such risky places? That would be insane.

But the architect was right. If the ocean took my house, Uncle Sam would pay to replace it under the National Flood Insurance Program. Since private insurers weren’t dumb enough to sell cheap insurance to people who built on the edges of oceans or rivers, Congress decided the government should step in and do it. So if the ocean ate what I built, I could rebuild and rebuild again and again -- there was no limit to the number of claims on the same property in the same location -- up to a maximum of $250,000 per house per flood. And you taxpayers would pay for it.

Clip Source: www.reason.com

Confessions of a Welfare Queen

How rich bastards like me rip off taxpayers for millions of dollars

Ronald Reagan memorably complained about "welfare queens," but he never told
us that the biggest welfare queens are the already wealthy. Their lobbyists fawn over
politicians, giving them little bits of money -- campaign contributions, plane trips,
dinners, golf outings -- in exchange for huge chunks of taxpayers’ money.
Millionaires who own your favorite sports teams get subsidies, as do millionaire farmers,
corporations, and well-connected plutocrats of every variety. Even successful, wealthy TV
    journalists.

That’s right, I got some of your money too.

My Life as a Welfare Queen

In 1980 I built a wonderful beach house. Four bedrooms -- every room with a view of

    my house and ruin was a hundred feet of sand. My father told me: "Don’t do it;

(ACPA-Sacramento) Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted that he was the cause of the recent wildfires that wrought extensive damage

to the exclusive Malibu area of Southern California.

The Governor acknowledged that problems started when a future version of himself, in the form of a Version 2.4 T-Series Poly-Chromic Cyborg, had traveled back in time to star in Terminator 4.

However, the arrival of his future self in a static ball of white electricity ignited the destructive fire North of Los Angeles.

Later, an upgraded 2.5 model arrived with a mission to kill future-Arnold, but instead it inadvertently caused the Santiago fire that devastated Orange County.

The Cyborgs went on to cause multiple smaller fires as they raced frantically around Los Angeles in an attempt

to kill each-other and people with the name John Connor.

"I'm very sorry for all the damage that I have caused, I also want to apologize to

all the recently demised John Connors."

public affairs rep. for the Christians adding,
"This intra faith effort also serves to remind us all that as terrible are the deeds inspired by religious faith,

In actuality, the entire world is defenseless to it – even the New World Order. A four million person army could invade the Atlantic shore tomorrow, and that military would certainly cause some initial chaos, but soon after, it would find out that it is drastically outnumbered and doomed to total extinction, if the American militia simply got up off the couch chose that to be their fate." Founding Father Edmund Randolph said: “A people who mean to continue free must be prepared to meet danger in person, not to rely upon the fallacious protection of… armies.”

Clip Source: restoretherepublic.com

George Mason, seemingly precognitively, wrote: “when the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great-Britain, the British parliament was advised… to disarm the people. That it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them. But that they should not do it openly; but to weaken them and let them sink gradually.” This is where we are today. The lying corporate media has us all looking different directions while this is going on, focusing on other, meaningless stories (the gay marriage debate, stories about Madonna, Obama, and Brittany Spears, etc.). And much more importantly, our government-controlled education system in America has never given us the correct story of history that shows just how important the guns are, and which shows what the power of a Jeffersonian militia can do, as happened with the Revolutionary War. That is the point of this article: to show you what history really is, which is the struggle for who controls the weapons.

<clipSource>http://restoretherepublic.com/top-stories/the-most-powerful-military-force-in-the-world-is-the-american-people</clipSource>

"This is War": Denmark

clipped by: Antara

Clip Source: gatesofvienna.blogspot.com

“The Jackal Manifesto” started an extended discussion about Hells Angels in Denmark and the role they have assumed as the spearhead of armed ethnic Danish resistance to immigrant violence.

Even in Denmark — which is relatively free of the PC pathology — the mainstream media and polite society recoil in horror from the thought of a biker club targeting immigrant gangs for reprisals. In order to maintain the pristine purity of their ideological posture, they are forced to avert their eyes from what has caused the Hells Angels’ reaction, and from the failure of the civil authorities to address the urgent issue of violent, lawless, unassimilated Muslim immigrants.

But ordinary Danes are not so ready to follow the elite sheep up the ramp into the abattoir. It's somewhat misterious, since it is set somewhere no humans live in. There's really not much to talk about, all we have to do is to look at these and imagine. They are really amazing. And by any chance, does any of you got underwater pictures, portraits, or whatever? If you do, share it with us! We'd love to see some more. Hope you like these... cheers! ;)

Tags: photography, portraits, underwater, water

<clipSource>http://abduzeedo.com/amazing-underwater-portraits</clipSource>

Why do they hate Sarah Palin?

clipped by: Antara
clipper's remarks: Very good piece--see source for full article plus lotsa links

Clip Source: www.firstthings.com

“Why do they hate Sarah Palin?”

Jim Geraghty is trying to get to the bottom of the over-the-top hate the left feels for Sarah Palin, a hate that seems to intensified, rather than ebbed-away since the election.

It’s a thoughtful piece, and well-worth reading. I think Geraghty gets quite a lot right, particularly as to the left’s rather ignorant perceptions of who and what conservatives are, and he suggests that there is a great deal of complexity to the hate.

The truth is, if Sarah Palin had a “D” after her name, instead of an “R”, they’d adore her,

Put a D after her name, and the story would be completely different

Although, even in that best-of circumstance, there may be something to the idea I wrote a while back, that they hate Sarah Palin because she is not a victim:

And no matter what, she’ll have to deal with a press fully intent on destroying her with a savagery we haven’t seen them use even against Reagan or Bush.

<hr size="2" In early 2008, Bahadur's group struck a peace deal with the local administration in North Waziristan, a mountainous tribal region along the Afghan border where the Pakistani government exerts little control. But a spokesman for his group announced Monday that because of U.S. drone bombings and Pakistani military activity, that peace has been shattered.

The BBC has coverage and a helpful map, with Afghanistan as an oceanic blue off in the North-west:

And a bit more from ABC News:
A militant commander who had a non-aggression pact with the Pakistan military has officially scrapped that pact, following a series of CIA drone attacks in the region including one that killed more than 65 at a funeral last week.

Posted by Tom Maguire on July 02, 2009

Clip Source: justoneminute.typepad.com

From the WaPo

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan,
June 29 -- The Pakistani military is at war with the Taliban, but the
ambush that killed 16 soldiers in the tribal region of North Waziristan
on Sunday was still somewhat unexpected.

"There is no operation which was either planned or being conducted
in North Waziristan," Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas, a Pakistani military
spokesman, told reporters Monday. "This attack was completely
unprovoked."

The Taliban assault on an army convoy passing through the village of
Inzar Kas was one of the deadliest incidents for the military during
its two-month-old offensive against the insurgents. But to some
analysts, it also served as a warning of a bigger threat -- the
possibility that disparate Taliban factions might be closing ranks to
battle the army in Pakistan.

Just as worrisome, wages shrank to their lowest in nearly a year.

The bleak news Thursday from the Labor Department underscored one of the big threats to an economic turnaround: Rising joblessness and falling wages for those still working could send Americans back into spending hibernation and short-circuit any recovery.

President Barack Obama acknowledged concern. "What we're still seeing is too many jobs lost, too many families who are worried about whether they're going to be next in terms of job loss, or whether they can find another," he told The Associated Press.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_economy
THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION: JUNE 2009
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

Clip Source: www.suitablyflip.com

Unemployment ticked up to 9.5% and the economy shed a much-worse-than-expected 467,000 jobs in June, meaning nearly 132 million grateful Americans saw their livelihoods saved by their President during the month.

The June data brings the total payroll shrinkage since Obama's inauguration to 2.9 million. A significant majority of those job losses (nearly 2.2 million) have occurred since enactment of the "stimulus" plan.

Tags: 467000 jobs lost in june, 2.2million since "stimulus", 2.9 million lost since inauguration, unemployment

<clipSource>http://www.suitablyflip.com/suitably_flip/2009/07/presto-obama-saved-or-created-another-130-million-jobs-in-june.html</clipSource>

National Black Republican Association calls on Democrat Party to apologize for racism

clipped by: clip-on-tie
clipper's remarks: Socialist policies suck. First is the Democrats’ false branding of the Republican Party as being racist. And second, is the deeply-rooted belief that “the government must do something for blacks”. Whereas the Republican Party promotes self-sufficiency among the black community, the Democrat Party insists on blacks’ dependence on the government. That’s why they don’t work on talk radio. If they say what they’re goals are unfiltered, it even scares themselves. Look at college campuses; if liberals were unrestrained, is there any doubt their final goal would be socialism and fascism? They inch into any control they can have about our finances and behavior and clamp down on it like wolverines never letting go, but they never talk about their ultimate goals except in the vaguest terms (”Change and happiness!”) because they’re well aware of how much it would freak people out. They want socialism and government control, but they just don’t want to state it that way.

Conservative ideals can be stated frankly, though, and not send people running. It can be a little scary - freedom and responsibility is scary - but it’s an argument people will accept.

We need to state frankly what our goals are. Lay out a real vision for the future to inspire people.

Clip Source: www.nbra.info

DYK-TroubleWithSocialism
