clipper's remarks: Power Twitter is a Firefox add-on that Twitter users will like: it lets you embed Flickr Photos and YouTube Videos right into your Twitter stream. Another neat feature of PowerTwitter is that it expands TinyURL hyperlinks into their titles. I installed it today and I'm really impressed. Think of the potential: if Narendra, the 30Boxes developer who designed PowerTwitter as a side project, makes this into an open add-on that allows any web object to be embedded, then I think Twitter will indeed be a success story, instead of a temporary hype.

We have just finished version 0.83 of Power Twitter, a plugin for Firefox web browser that greatly enhances twitter.

Twitter pages now include:

Photo sharing with embedded flickr photos
Video sharing with embedded youtube videos
Shared tinyurls are unwound so you know where they link to
All links are mapped to their web page titles
Additional user information is mapped to twitter users thanks to data conduits via 30 Boxes (e.g. flickr accounts, blog posts, del.icio.us links, and tons of other social media!)

It is simple. “Save as” for the following xpi file:

and then drop it on Firefox to install it. Restart your browser and try this test page.

clipper's remarks: With Atiki you can create a custom RSS feed by filtering other feeds in a few simple steps. You provide the URLs of the source feeds (maximum 25 feeds) and specify the keywords and other filtering criteria to finetune the results. A nice example is Tech MemeTrackers [US] at this URL: http://www.atiki.com/feed-102, which splices articles from Tech.Memeorandum, TailRank, Topix.net, Chuquet, Megite and Blogniscient in a single feed.
Existing feeds cannot be adjusted, but they can be cloned. The resulting feeds are displayed with a friendly layout (XSL) and can of course be opened with any feed aggregator of your choice. Atiki offers browser bookmarklets that are able to detect whether websites offer web feeds (so-called feed auto-discovery). Excellent newsmastering tool to create topic radars, event feeds or ego engines.

It's a Java applet that allows you to set up a workspace with your team members. You can see what they are working on, whether they are available for contact, at which location and at which phone number. You can synchronize folders through a secure connection. Verosee can send out specific event alerts, for example to notify you when a team member opens a specific file or enters a specific workspace.

At the moment Verosee is available for Windows and Linux. A Mac version is coming up.

My Skype buddy list is a nice example of unscientific, experiential evidence that the VoIP giant's installed userbase is growing exponentially. Not only did several of my existing MSN, AIM and Yahoo! buddies recently sign up for a Skype account, but I'm also rediscovering dear old friends and adding new connections daily. Some of these new connections originate from my recent decision to become a member of the social business networks Ecademy, LinkedIn and OpenBC, other new connections are with software vendors and geeks—of course it's not surprising these people embrace Skype's sheer unbeatable offering. Skype has become even more popular thanks to over a hundred priceless plugins of diverse origin and functionality scope. A new submission to the Skype gallery literally caught my eye a few days ago and it hasn't let go of it since then: supposedly Avacon for Skype enables multi-party video conferencing for Skype!
