Whether you want to think about it or not there is a reckoning coming for retirees in the not too distant future. The Social Security and Medicare systems will not be able fund all of their obligations in the future. As to when this will happen depends on who you listen to, but it is going to happen!

As initially laid out the Social Securrity system was to be a safety net. Today however, it has become a sole source of income for many retirees. For Baby Boomers approaching retirement, this is a special concern since the SSI and Medicare programs could end up being very different from what they are today. If you are expecting Uncle Sam to keep you financially sound in your golden years, you might want to rethink your strategy.

Woor, triple pane windows, and upgraded the electric. We refinanced once to do the garage and again to get a better rate. We now owe over $20,000 more than the house is worth less than a year after our refinance. We got "hosed" by the mortgage company with more than $10,000 in fees. We have now learned our lesson which was a huge slap in the face. We don't feel like we can trust any lender now. We are moving and are going to rent because we are nervous about another mortgage. Eventually we would like to buy again. Any suggestions? Some have said to stay with reputable companies. We've also heard to deal directly with banks and credit unions. Obviously third party brokers are crooked so they are out. Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

To awaken the American public to THE THREAT of Radical Islam, its purpose and its goals. If you're of the opinion that Islam is a peaceful religion, you have not read the Qu'ran as it plainly states to kill the infidel if he does not submit or convert. Personally I'm of the opinion, the term "peaceful Muslim" is an oxymoron, if one truly believes and follows the Qu'ran. They may appear peaceful in a public forum, but they speak a different language and show a complete different face when inside their mosque retreats. I've been told, via emails from actual Muslims or family members, that many (especially asians) have never read the Qu'ran, but consider themselves devout Muslims. To truly read the Qu'ran I am told, one must read it in arabic - it's original untranslated version. I admit that I base my opinion on translated versions.

Well after several weeks and was finally able to get a Saturday and finished putting in the insulation. We now have I am estimating R-45 or 50 now in the attic. Hopefully this will lower our bills even further in conjunction with the hybrid heat system we had installed. We are still waiting for the first bills to arrive from the gas and electric companies to compare with our previous bills. I am looking for a savings on heating and air-conditioning of around $800 per year. The system so far runs great although I'm a little confused as to what the setpoint is for the switchover from gas to heat pump is. I have seen the heat pump running as low as 25°F in the gas furnace running at 35°F so there must be some other settings in the algorithm other than just the temperature outside. The system is very quiet and keeps the house very comfortable.
