BURBANK, Calif., Sep 30, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- On September 30, Walt Disney Records unveils Nightmare Revisited with 20 fresh recordings and beloved covers of the music, mayhem, and merriment from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Danny Elfman returns to recapture the musical landscape he masterfully created for the original The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack with two brand new recordings of the "Opening" and "Closing." Adding a new tantalizing twist to Nightmare favorites, Nightmare Revisited also boasts an eclectic array of today's music superstars including Korn, Amy Lee, Plain White T's, Rise Against, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Flyleaf. In the 80's and the 90's rock, heavy metal, whatever you want to call it went hand in severed hand with our beloved genre. Often enough "music videos" either containing clips from the films or that invented their own stories inspired by the themes of the movies in question would surface weeks before a film's release

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's top lawyer decided on Thursday that no action would be taken against a Muslim woman accused of listening to an MP3 music player under her hijab while on jury duty.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was thrown off the jury considering a murder trial when one of her fellow jurors reported seeing headphone wires coming out of her headscarf.

Attorney General Baroness Patricia Scotland had "carefully" considered the case

decided not to press criminal charges, saying it would be too difficult to prove if the woman was guilty

"(She) has concluded that there is insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of proving beyond reasonable doubt any alleged contempt of court," the spokeswoman said.

The suspected incident had occurred during a trial in June at London's Blackfriars Court of a man accused of bludgeoning his wife to death.

The case was briefly halted while the woman

was discharged from the jury and arrested.

Composers often speak of fitting chords and melodies together, as though sounds were physical objects with geometric shape -- and now a Princeton University musician has shown that advanced geometry actually does offer a tool for understanding musical structure.

His findings have resulted in the first paper on music theory that the journal Science has printed in its 127-year history, and may provide an additional theoretical tool for composers searching for that elusive next chord

"I'm not trying to tell people what style of music sounds good, or which composers to prefer," said Tymoczko

"What I hope to do is provide a new way to represent the space of musical possibilities.

One of Tymoczko's musical spaces resembles a triangular prism, in which points representing traditionally familiar harmonies such as major chords gather near the center of the triangle, forming neat geometric shapes with other common chords that relate to them closely.
