7 Killings in 2 Weeks is the twisted creation of horror filmmaker D.W. Bucks and music producer Big Foot Lee of Feet 1st Productions. Having first worked together on the trailer for Bucks' film Destined to be Ingested, the pair hit it off and set off in search of a new music project.

Each track has a unique feel and vibe: “Mark of the Vampire” has a sensual, Gothic feel, “Plan Nine” is all juicy horn blasts and quotes from the awesome Criswell, and my personal fave “Blood Feast” uses a sweet, DJ Shadow trip-hop vibe to set up some brilliantly-edited layers of samples that actually make H.G. Lewis's crap dialogue (“It has not been served for five... thousand... years!”) sound like beat poetry.

All seven tracks will be available for download on Halloween via the official MySpace [www.myspace.com/7killingsin2weeks], but you can get your grubby claws on one of the 1000 limited-run CDs right now, for nothing more than the cost of shipping.

Horror Movie Drinking Games!

I was browsing www.moviecynics.com and there were drinking games going along with some of their horror movie reviews. Horror movies and drinking games?! Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! I think that every horror fan (that's a drinker of course) would have a lot of fun with this, especially with October and Halloween comin' up. I know that I will!

There are plenty of general rules that can be applied to countless horror films (especially slasher flicks). Such as, drink everytime:

-there is a false scare
-a victim runs up the stairs rather than out of the house (LOL )
-you can see the killer but the victim can not
-a victim trips while being chased

(the list goes on)

I think it'd be even better to make up several rules for specific horror films. I can't think up of anything clever just yet, although I'm sure I will by the time this thread gets going. So, let's get thinking and then drinking!

It was originated by the Celtic people who arose as a society around 800 BCE in Western Europe. These people held a celebration at the end of every October called Samhain, (pronounced sow-hen and meaning “summers end”), to celebrate the end of summer. It was during this time that the veil between this world and that of the dead became thin. Friends and relatives would crossover to our world on this day and the future could be foretold through prophecy.

There’s a common myth that “Samhain” was a Celtic God of the Dead. This myth, however, has been repeated so often by conservative Christian and secular sources that some think it’s true. It’s not.

But, more often Halloween is incorrectly linked to Satanism by conservative Protestants. The Christian Youth Alliance stated, “Satan loves Halloween because it glamorizes the powers of darkness, drawing little kids into his realm. And it is paying off, witchcraft is exploding among teens today.”

Nothing could be further from the truth.

This really is my favorite time of the year: Days are just warm enough, nights have that slight autumn-ish smell, you start seeing pumpkins, black cats and Saw sequel posters everywhere ... ah yeah: Halloween is coming! Now obviously I'm not into candy like I used to be (just give me a plain Hershey bar and I'm happy), but I do love the fact that even HORROR has its own season. Like, if you enjoy being scared, October's the month to do it in. Could be PG-rated chills on a hay ride with your six-year-old, could be a goofy pre-teen sleepover where moms does that "eww, these grapes are eyebaaaaalllllllls" trick, or it could be my kind of Halloween season: Packed to the rafters with digital terrors.

So as I was perusing the schedules and doing the "ooh, gimme" thing on a bunch of DVDs, I thought it might be more fun to do it publicly.

Even though Fall doesn't officially begin until next week, the Christmas catalogs have already begun to arrive. Though Halloween is still over one month away, I have already found the best choice for a Halloween wine, the new 2006 Twisted Oak River of Skulls. Just check out the eerie red skull that is on the label. Plus, the history behind the name of the wine provides a rather grisly background, a ghost story that could be easily embellished.

In 1805, Lieutenant Gabriel Moraga was ordered by the Spanish Governor of California to explore the Great Central Valley. displace the local Natives, and re-name everything he found. Well, one day Gabe and his horsemen came across a river the banks of which were littered with skulls. No one knows for sure how the skulls came to be on the banks of this river. Perhaps they were the remains of an ancient battle, or a terrible plague. Or perhaps it was a really great party that suddenly went horribly wrong.
