A team of scientists led by renowned French marine archaeologist Franck Goddio recently announced that they have found a bowl, dating to between the late 2nd century B.C. and the early 1st century A.D., that is engraved with what they believe could be the world's first known reference to Christ

The full engraving on the bowl reads, "DIA CHRSTOU O GOISTAIS," which has been interpreted by the excavation team to mean either, "by Christ the magician" or, "the magician by Christ."

"It could very well be a reference to Jesus Christ, in that he was once the primary exponent of white magic," Goddio, co-founder of the Oxford Center of Maritime Archaeology, said

found the object during an excavation of the underwater ruins of Alexandria's ancient great harbor. The Egyptian site also includes the now submerged island of Antirhodos

New Iguana Species Revealed

Sept. 17, 2008 -- A new species of Pacific iguana has been uncovered by Australian and U.S. researchers, but already its future is looking grim.

In a paper published online in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B, the team shows there are three living species of Brachylophus iguanas, not two as indicated in current taxonomy.

The new species is named Brachylophus bulabula after the Fijian word for hello.

the new species and its cousins are under threat from habitat loss and attacks by feral cats and mongooses.

Two species of the iguana are already extinct, having been eaten out of existence about 2800 years ago by the earliest arrivals on the island, Keogh said. The surviving three species, the B. vitiensis,, or Fiji crested iguana, is listed as critically endangered and the other two as status unknown, due to lack of information about their numbers.

The new species was uncovered after analysis of the mitochondrial DNA of 61 iguanas from 13 islands.

I was browsing www.moviecynics.com and there were drinking games going along with some of their horror movie reviews. Horror movies and drinking games?! Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! I think that every horror fan (that's a drinker of course) would have a lot of fun with this, especially with October and Halloween comin' up. I know that I will!

There are plenty of general rules that can be applied to countless horror films (especially slasher flicks). Such as, drink everytime:

-there is a false scare
-a victim runs up the stairs rather than out of the house (LOL )
-you can see the killer but the victim can not
-a victim trips while being chased

(the list goes on)

I think it'd be even better to make up several rules for specific horror films. I can't think up of anything clever just yet, although I'm sure I will by the time this thread gets going. So, let's get thinking and then drinking!

It was originated by the Celtic people who arose as a society around 800 BCE in Western Europe. These people held a celebration at the end of every October called Samhain, (pronounced sow-hen and meaning “summers end”), to celebrate the end of summer. It was during this time that the veil between this world and that of the dead became thin. Friends and relatives would crossover to our world on this day and the future could be foretold through prophecy.

There’s a common myth that “Samhain” was a Celtic God of the Dead. This myth, however, has been repeated so often by conservative Christian and secular sources that some think it’s true. It’s not.

But, more often Halloween is incorrectly linked to Satanism by conservative Protestants. The Christian Youth Alliance stated, “Satan loves Halloween because it glamorizes the powers of darkness, drawing little kids into his realm. And it is paying off, witchcraft is exploding among teens today.”

Nothing could be further from the truth.
