Viktor is based on Ray Kurzweil, and the movie is based on Kurzweil's 2001 TED Conference presentation of his female alter ego, Ramona. The scene in which Viktor performs a concert is modeled very closely with Kurzweil's Ramona presentation.

Of particular interest is the fact that the device is implied to be a Tipler Cylinder, but one well known "side effect" of this device is that it can only be used to travel to times in which the device already existed – Titor could travel into the past with one, but only to 2034, which is when he claimed it was first built.^[5] It has been suggested that the description of the system has been copied with almost no modification from a particular work, the general science book Hyperspace written by Dr. Michio Kaku.^[6]

Chris Anderson suggests an even more intriguing strategy: the "Lego Rule."

The Lego Company, it seems, has a policy of not producing toys that replicate 20th century weapons. "You can have swords, and you can have laser guns in space, but no actual 20th century guns," Anderson says. So his four children can play games like Halo, since it contains only futuristic, fantasy war, where you're killing only green- or blue-blooded aliens. The same goes for Roman swordplay titles. "But it clearly walls off Grand Theft Auto."

(I e-mailed Lego's spokesman Michael McNally, and he confirmed the company's Solomonic logic. Lego, he wrote, agrees that good-versus-evil combat "is at the root of children's play scenarios, and we believe is an important part of a child's exploration of the world." I agree that it's a pathetic showing from both formats, most people don't plan to indulge in them any time soon, and for that reason they don't "deserve" attention. But I say that's all the more reason to cover these sorts of things. We need this REAL news, showing the truth of the situation, to counterract the fluff pieces that truely give them free ads. Giving them free attention isn't bad, it's giving them free PROPAGANDA as other news sources are doing, that is terribly damaging.

eSOL announced this week that it has licensed its PrFILE2 file system and its PrUSB/HOST USB host stack to Nintendo. The company didn't say what Nintendo plans to do with this but it's rumoured that Nintendo may be working on support for USB memory sticks. Or, another possibility is that the firm is working on an external hard drive for the Wii.
