More than 100 cars and trucks crashed on a fog-shrouded freeway Saturday, killing at least two people and injuring dozens more, the California Highway Patrol said.

Eighteen big rigs were involved in the massive pileup on Highway 99 just south of Fresno

"Truly Gigantic" Dinosaur Skeleton Found

The skeleton of what is believed to be a new dinosaur species - a 105-foot plant-eater that is among the largest dinosaurs ever found - has been uncovered in Argentina

the Patagonian dinosaur appears to represent a previously unknown species of Titanosaur because of the unique structure of its neck. They named it Futalognkosaurus dukei after the Mapuche Indian words for "giant" and "chief,"

"I'm pretty certain it's a new species," agreed Peter Mackovicky,

Calvo said the neck alone must have been 56 feet long, and by studying the vertebrae, they figured the tail probably measured 49 feet. The dinosaur reached over 43 feet tall, and the excavated spinal column alone weighed about 9 tons when excavated.

The site where Futalognkosaurus was found has been a bonanza for paleontologists, yielding more than 1,000 specimens, including 240 fossil plants, 300 teeth and the remains of several other dinosaurs.

A baby hippo and a giant tortoise have developed their own way of talking to one another, claim their keepers.

The two creatures bonded after little Owen was rescued from the sea by wildlife rangers, after the Asian tsunami hit Kenya.

it's the first time they've seen a mammal and a reptile chatting.

"We discovered that somebody was making a sound in the pen, we'd never heard it before, not even from other hippos.

"And then we realised it was coming from both Owen and Mzee... It's just very unusual.

Mzee, who is 126 years old, befriended Owen when he arrived at the wildlife centre after the tsunami on Boxing Day 2004.

The hippo became separated from his mother when the creek where he lived was swamped by the wave which travelled as far as the Kenyan coast.

Judas Priest and NIN deserved the awknoledgements.
This awards show seems much more...'fair'? than the US award shows which award the worst music! I wish I could have seen the show.

Lostprophets, who formed 10 years ago in Pontypridd, beat Muse, Enter Shikari, Biffy Clyro and Funeral For A Friend to the best British band title.

Machine Head and Enter Shikari won an additional two gongs - Hard Rock Hero and Spirit of Independence respectively.

former Ku Klux Klansman has been jailed for life over the abduction and killing of two black teenagers in the US state of Mississippi.

Seale, a former policeman, has appealed against the conviction

case was reopened in 2005 after Moore's brother found Seale was still alive.

Seale was first arrested in 1964 but authorities freed him, citing lack of evidence.

Judge Wingate described the killings as "horrific" and refused an application to release Seale on bail while an appeal is launched.

Moore and Dee, aged 19 when they were killed, were said to have been kidnapped and forced into a vehicle owned by Seale before being tied up and drowned in the Mississippi river.

Their bodies were found months later during a search for three well-known civil rights activists

The key witness, confessed Klansman Charles Marcus Edwards, said during the trial that Seale attached heavy weights to the boys and dumped them alive into the river.

Monkeys Terrorizing Village in Kenya

The residents report that the monkeys have killed livestock and guard dogs, villagers fear for the safety of their babies and children.
All the villagers' attempts to control the monkeys have failed - the monkeys evade traps, have lookouts to warn the others of impending attacks and snub poisoned food put out by the residents.
The town has been warned by the Kenya Wildlife Service not to harm or kill any of the monkeys, as it is a criminal offence.
Running out of options, residents are harvesting their crops early
Some residents have lost hope and abandoned their homes and farms, but those who have stayed behind, like 80-year-old James Ndungu, are making a desperate plea for assistance.
"For God's sake, the government should take pity on us and move these monkeys away because we do not want to abandon our farms," he said.
"I beg you, please come and take these animals away from here so that we can farm in peace."

A troop of vervet monkeys is giving Kenyan villagers long days and sleepless nights, destroying crops and causing a food crisis.

"The monkeys grab their breasts, and gesture at us while pointing at their private parts. We are afraid that they will sexually harass us,"

The Kenyan Wildlife Service told the BBC that it was not unusual for monkeys to harass women and be less afraid of them than men, but they had not heard of monkeys in Kenya making sexually explicit gestures as a form of communication to humans.

The predominantly farming community is now having to receive famine relief food.

A giant panda who delivered a cub on Thursday actually gave birth to twins but one died, said the Austrian zoo which houses the endangered animals.

The minute body was spotted hours later on CCTV

was the first panda in Europe to be born after having been naturally conceived in captivity.

The living cub measured 10cm (4in) and weighed 100g (0.22lb).

Half of the panda's mountainous bamboo habitat was lost between 1974 and 1988 and the animal is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

A man suspected of stealing copper is dead after he was electrocuted outside a retirement home, NBC 5 reported.
