Husband and wife team in $1m bid to release film that turns focus on the effects of banning DDT

ENVIRONMENTALISTS are under artistic attack again — this time from two Irish film-makers. Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, producers of a controversial mining documentary that portrayed environmentalists as oppressors, have started an online campaign to raise $3.5m (€2.2m) to secure a cinema release for their latest film, which accuses Al Gore of scaremongering.

The husband and wife team spent 18 months and $1m (€600,000) making Not Evil Just Wrong. It looks at the effects of banning DDT, a chemical used to stop the spread of malaria in the third world, because it was found to be poisonous to wildlife and the environment.

McAleer described environmentalism as something middle-class people did to keep poorer members of society in their place and said their documentary shows the true cost of “global warming hysteria”.

We're back from Al Gore's big global warming speech, and boy did we have a great time! We had a dedicated band of taxpayer advocates out in force, pointing out the high economic cost of global warming alarmism - starting with $8 a gallon gasoline.

Of course, we saw plenty of hypocrisy -- especially the fact that Gore didn't ride his bike or take public transporation to the event. He didn't even take his Prius! Instead, he brought a fleet of two Lincoln Town Cars and a Chevy Suburban SUV! Even worse, the driver of the Town Car that eventually whisked away Gore's wife and daughter left the engine idling and the AC cranking for 20 minutes before they finally left!

BARBARA FORREST knew the odds were stacked against her. "They had 50 or 60 people in the room," she says. Her opponents included lobbyists, church leaders and a crowd of home-schooled children. "They were wearing stickers, clapping, cheering and standing in the aisles." Those on Forrest's side numbered less than a dozen, including two professors from Louisiana State University, representatives from the Louisiana Association of Educators and campaigners for the continued separation of church and state.

The act is designed to slip ID in "through the back door", says Forrest, who is a professor of philosophy at Southeastern Louisiana University and an expert in the history of creationism. She adds that the bill's language, which names evolution along with global warming, the origins of life and human cloning as worthy of "open and objective discussion", is an attempt to misrepresent evolution as scientifically controversial.

Glaciers on California's Mt. Shasta keep growing

MOUNT SHASTA, Calif. — Reaching more than 14,000 feet above sea level, Mt. Shasta dominates the landscape of high plains and conifer forests in far Northern California.

While it's not California's tallest mountain, the tongues of ice creeping down Shasta's volcanic flanks give the solitary mountain another distinction. Its seven glaciers, referred to by American Indians as the footsteps made by the creator when he descended to Earth, are the only historical glaciers in the continental U.S. known to be growing.

"When people look at glaciers around the world, the majority of them are shrinking," said Slawek Tulaczyk, an assistant professor of earth sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz. "These glaciers seem to be benefiting from the warming ocean."

Why: the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) will announce that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. The purpose of OISM's Petition Project is to demonstrate that the claim of "settled science" and an overwhelming "consensus" in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.

It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science -- including 9,021 PhDs, are not "a few." Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not "skeptics."

AL Gore's €1bn-plus private equity firm, which includes former President Mary Robinson as an adviser, has finished raising a €410m "Climate Solutions" fund for investing in public and private companies working to solve global warming.

Mr Gore's London-based Generation Investment Management is to put the money into renewable energy technologies, cleaner fossil fuels, sustainable agriculture and carbon markets.

The investment outfit is also working on a €4bn Global equity fund which has taken stakes in insulin maker Novo Nordisk, food giant Nestle and automotive seat maker Johnson Controls. Mrs Robinson joined the "green" private equity firm as a member of its advisory board last year.

CLIMATE change is the latest threat to the world's growing HIV epidemic, say Australian experts who warn of the "grim" outlook in the fight against the infectious disease.

A leading professor of health and human rights, Daniel Tarantola, has cautioned that global warming will indirectly make citizens of developing countries even more vulnerable to death and severe ill health from HIV/AIDS.

"It was clear soon after the emergence of the HIV epidemic that discrimination, gender inequality and lack of access to essential services have made some populations more vulnerable than others,'' said Prof Tarantola, of the University of NSW.

Those problems had not gone away, he said, and today extra threats were lurking on the horizon "as the global economic situation deteriorates, food scarcity worsens and climate change begins to affect those who were already dependent on survival economies''.

Kerry Emanuel of MIT used to get his name in the papers by claiming that global warming caused Katrina. His opportunistic findings were eagerly seized upon by the deranged Robert Kennedy Jr., who tried to spin them as proof that George W. Bush caused the hurricane.

In an attempt to retain some credibility, Emanuel is now backing away from his hysterical claim that global warming will cause a plague of hurricanes. Now he says there will be a reduction in the number of hurricanes over the next two centuries.

One of the most vocal scientists in the field of hurricane prediction has backed away from his earlier certainty of a link between global warming and stronger hurricanes after developing a new forecasting technique that suggests a moderate increase – or even decline – in storm activity over the next 200 years.

Kerry Emanuel, a climate scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his co-authors published their findings in the March issue of Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.

"The results surprised me," Emanuel told the Houston Chronicle.

The global warming hoax is living on borrowed time if not even heavily targeted teenagers will fall for it. Even while lying that "the overwhelming consensus is that humans are causing global warming," NPR admits:
