LZ's Houses of the Holy and Giant's Causeway

Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy album cover

featured the Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the northeast coast of Northern Ireland. It’s area is made up of 40,000 interlocking basalt columns… the steps you see are the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. Discovered in 1692 and announced to the world, it became a popular tourist attraction ever since the 19th century.

Basalt columns are actually a common volcanic feature and you can see it in many other places like Armenia, New Zealand, Russia and California. I’ve seen a few of them but the Giant’s causeway seems to be most impressive. Here are some pictures of them. Definitely a place to visit in Ireland.

One was particularly amused by this exchange: A nervous young McCain staffer took it upon himself to explain to Palin the facts of life in a national campaign, the intense scrutiny she'd be under from the media, the viciousness of the assault that she'd be facing, etc.:

Palin: "Thanks for the warning. By the way, do you know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull?"

McCain aide: "No, Governor."

Palin: "A hockey mom wears lipstick."

While styrofoam may be most commonly associated with disposable coffee cups, meat trays and packaging, prefab home manufacturer Japan Dome House Co., Ltd. uses it to construct easy-to-assemble modular kit homes.

The styrofoam used in the Dome House’s 175-millimeter (7 in) thick walls is significantly denser and stronger than ordinary packing foam. The material has excellent thermal insulation properties, resulting in higher energy efficiency and lower heating and cooling costs.

Construction of the Dome House shell is quick and easy. The prefabricated pieces, which each weigh about 80 kilograms (175 lbs), can be carried by 2 or 3 people and assembled in a few hours. Once the shell is put together, coats of mortar and paint are applied for further protection from the elements.

The Dome House can also be used as a bar, karaoke room, steam room, and more.

First off, Obama himself (ya know, the candidate at the TOP of the ticket) has ZERO foreign policy creds. And now it’s becoming increasingly apparent that his VP choice is a lightweight in more ways than one.

Don’t you think it’s a little more important for the media to unearth whether Biden has an alcohol problem, than to worry about Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter and whether she is pregnant or not?

You are NOT hallucinating and this is not a camera trick, the man singing and dancing above IS Joe Biden, and as can be easily assessed, he is disgustingly DRUNK.

After trying to paint Palin as an “inexperienced” candidate, a clearly ridiculous attempt since their main candidate fares far worse than her in this aspect, they are now trimming down their attack to only one complaint: “She doesn’t have ANY National Security experience!”

While this may seem like the would-be property developer's idea of bliss, there is a catch. The town centre lays unpopulated, filled only with houses have been left derelict for the past 40 years after an earthquake brought this once vibrant area to its knees.

"There are 3,700 houses owned by the council, almost all in the old town, that are in danger of falling down, of crumbling and dying," said Salemi's controversial mayor and former art critic Vittorio Sgarbi of the euro-home scheme.

McCain's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice President displays near-reckless judgment.

She's a small-town gal without credentials who will be one heartbeat away from the U.S. presidency. Just 20 months ago, according to her biography, she was mayor of a town of 8,000, in Alaska, then became Governor in 2006

Palin's candidacy fails to meet the most basic requirements for this job:

1. Vice Presidents must assume the reins should the President become ill or deceased

How dare McCain put someone into the biggest most important job in the world who is mere months out of running a tiny village in an isolated part of the country?

2. Vice Presidents also chair the Senate.

Successful ones are savvy and experienced operator at brokering deals and forging bipartisan coalitions

The wonderful cool crisp autum days are approaching fast, so I thought I better try one more water drop shot after the last hot humid rain. The sun was out and bright and created a glare on the edge of the drops, but it also lit up the yellow nicely.

"People who are having lots of great sex with people that they love and feel close to aren't considered sex addicts, and they don't need therapy," Ren said.

'It does not exist'

"Sex addiction is a specious condition -- it does not exist," said David Hersh, a clinical sexologist based in Nelson, B.C.

Addiction is a physiological dependence that must be accompanied by withdrawal symptoms, Hersh said. Unlike alcoholics, who experience various symptoms when they can't get a drink, denying someone sex doesn't create the same result, he said.

Hersh scoffed at the notion of sex addiction, calling it "silly" to use the term for someone who has allowed sex to become a driving force in their life.

"(It) has a moralistic quality to it and a quality of lack of responsibility," he said. "They give up the control to some outside force."

Hersh said he's not surprised by the abundance of therapists promising to save people from sex addiction; as the saying goes, sex sells.
