barrister Hugh Tomlinson QC challenged her account, suggesting she had worn Islamic dress to provoke the Vogelenzangs and that they merely engaged in a legitimate discussion about their faiths.

A Carbon tax of €15 per tonne is to be introduced.
- The tax will apply to petrol and diesel from tonight. Increases to home heating oils and gas will apply from next May.
- The yield from this tax will be used to boost energy efficiency
- Introduction of carbon tax will lead to an increase in the cost of petrol and diesel.
- Salary of Taoiseach to be reduced by 20pc, salaries of Ministers to be reduced by 15pc
- No reduction in judicial pay, the Consitution did not allow this

VAT and Excise changes

The reductions will be as follows:

- 12 cent per pint of beer and cider
- 14 cent per half glass of spirits
- 60 cent per standard bottle of wine

- Funding for a Ted Kennedy memorial at Dunganstown in Co Wexford is to be made available

- €56 million is being made available to Fás for short term courses

I posted last night about the absurd Orwellian language imposed by the British government on its civil servants. I also embedded a video of retired Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin, who pointed out the extent to which the United States government has been infiltrated by apologists for Islamic extremism — or worse.

These are not unconnected phenomena. The Muslim Brotherhood — al-Ikhwan al-Muslimeen — lies behind both of these incidents, as well as many other similar cases. It has penetrated all major Western governments down to the local level as well as many of our academic institutions.

Has a government agency imposed politically correct language restrictions, which coincidentally benefit Muslims?

The Muslim Brotherhood has been at work.

The Muslim chaplains in the American military, our universities, or the state and federal prison systems?

TWO Irishmen died last week. They both seem to have been good men, their lives crossing only as vapour trails from different flight-paths might mingle. Each provided a different kind national stereotype -- one for Ireland, the other for Britain -- and the myths they helped create still live on in the imaginations of those outside their respective countries.

Two of the aircrew serving with the RAF at that time were the Waterford brothers, air-gunners Paddy and Tom Clancy. Only one-in-four of Bomber Command survived a tour of missions, and they both did; going on, in a second exile in the US, to form the Clancy Brothers. The youngest and last of the Clancys, Liam, died last week, just hours after Richard Todd.

For those of us in the great Irish diaspora, the Clancy Brothers lit a torch of creative and cultural certainty. That it might have been largely mythic is irrelevant.

He is enough of a scoundrel to have shared the Goracle's Nobel Peace Prize for the IPCC's efforts to plunge the world into a long-term depression for the sake of global socialism behind a thin smokescreen of concern for the polar bears.

The Goracle himself, scientifically incompetent point man for the most massive hoax in the history of science, needs no introduction.

Meanwhile, the terrifyingly powerful EPA just declared war on business in the name of harmless CO2 emissions, taking an early step toward consolidating totalitarian power over every aspect of our lives, as warned. My guess is unemployment will not be dropping as a result.

If you were running a business under a government run by socialist eco-zealots, would you take on the responsibility of any new hires unless absolutely necessary? Not if you realized that until we get adults back in the driver's seat, nothing good is going to happen to our economy.

Late last week, the Court of Queen's Bench overturned the Alberta Human Rights Commission's "hate speech" conviction of Rev. Stephen Boissoin.

Long-time readers of this blog, and readers of my book, will know the case of Rev. Boissoin well. He was a youth pastor who wrote a letter to the editor of the Red Deer Advocate in 2002 that was critical of the "gay agenda". You can read that letter in full here. He was sentenced to a lifetime speech ban, barring him from ever saying anything negative about gays again, in public or private, for the rest of his life. Oh -- and he had to write a false letter of apology, renouncing his faith on the matter.

So here we are, more than seven years later, and Rev. Boissoin has finally been acquitted. And that's if his tormentor, the anti-Christian bigot Darren Lund, doesn't choose to appeal this new ruling.

So lesson number one here is that the process is the punishment.

Seven people including three children were buried alive when a truck carrying debris fell into a trench at a dumping site in north India.

The victims were labourers who earned their living separating construction materials - mainly metal - from debris.

Labourers typically collect the materials and sell them for recycling to add to their daily income of about £1.

The victims died when the soft earth under the truck gave way, causing it to fall into the trench and dump its debris onto the workers.

The accident happened in Chandigarh on Sunday when more than a dozen labourers saw the truck arrive and went to the trench hoping to pick up more goods for recycling.

Rescue teams rushed to the site and three cranes were used to prevent the truck from slipping further into the trench.

The entire rescue operation was carried out manually as officials feared the weight of machines might harm the victims buried under the debris.

Denmark is proud of its image as one of the greenest countries in the world; it's probably why it was chosen as the site of the 15th United Nations Conference on Climate Change.

But beneath the gloss lurk some inconvenient truths, including the fact that, pound for pound, Denmark produces more trash per capita than any other country in the 27-member European Union.

It even surpasses the Americans (1,690 pounds), who are often held up as the boogeyman of heedless, needless consumption. By the numbers, Denmark is one of the most wasteful

societies in the world.
