clipper's remarks: Regardless of the content or movie, shouldn't teachers and schools be more judicious about what they show to 12 yr olds? Is any R-rated movie (or PG-13 for that matter) acceptable to be shown at school in a clasAnd people want to question "why" I homeschool and "if" I am competes of 12 yr olds? And without parental/guardian permission?

The grandfather mentioned religion, but this is more than being against the family's religion. Public schools across the country are failing to educate children with the basic skills. Our own local high school got a "D". And my state has a wonderful track record for giving high school diplomas to teenagers who can't even read.

How about focusing on the quality of education...and giving children the skills they need to become functional adults????

What good are recreational movies, cultural studies, diversity training, and sex ed (any type) if the graduates NEVER successfully integrate with society and become productive members of it?

A 12-year-old girl who says she was traumatized when her teacher showed the film "Brokeback Mountain" featuring love scenes with homosexual cowboys is suing the Chicago Board of Education for $500,000.

"What happens in Ms. Buford's class stays in Ms. Buford's class," is what the substitute teacher told eighth-grade students at Ashburn Community Elementary School after showing the R-rated movie, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in Cook County Circuit Court.

Michael Moore is under investigation by the U.S. Treasury Department for taking ailing Sept. 11 rescue workers to Cuba for a segment in his upcoming health-care documentary "Sicko,"

The Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control notified Moore in a letter dated May 2 that it was conducting a civil investigation for possible violations of the U.S. trade embargo restricting travel to Cuba. A copy of the letter was obtained Tuesday by the AP.

"This office has no record that a specific license was issued authorizing you to engage in travel-related transactions involving Cuba," Dale Thompson, OFAC chief of general investigations and field operations, wrote in the letter to Moore.

clipper's remarks: It's my understanding, from being part of a church that had to get city approval to acquire a building that was for sale, that a city and it's citizens do have a say in what so-called "houses of worship" go up.

What makes me laugh is CAIR's statement about this "day and age"....OH PLEASE! Ten years ago, when Americans were largely naive about the evil that lurked behind the walls of the neighborhood mosque, few worried worried about the building of a mosque. But today...in THIS day and age, people ARE on their guard against the evil of Islam....as they very well should be. We have some very good reasons to be opposed to mosques opening in our neighborhoods.

A Florida man filed a lawsuit to prevent construction of a mosque in his neighborhood, claiming it "presents a substantial harm to the well-being, safety and health" of his community.

It is a disasterous publicly funded...i.e taxpayer-funded...nightmare. Healthcare may need some reform...such as making all insurance companies non-profits...but we do not WANT or NEED the unhealthy burden of universal healthcare.

The patient, identified only as a disabled man in his 30s, was checked in to the Mater Hospital in inner north Dublin during the Easter period, where staff certified his death. Morgue officials found him, apparently awake and alert, in his bed when they arrived hours later to collect the body.

Screwups are nothing new for Ireland's publicly funded hospitals. In August another north Dublin hospital, Beaumont, shipped the body of a dead English tourist back to England — with a bag of somebody else's organs stitched up inside his body.

clipper's remarks: Hey...how about...we put a limit on the traveling the eco-warriors do? Why are they the only ones allowed to travel..regardless of eco-method? What about all of the damage being done to the world by the people who flock unnecessarily to these dinners and speeches.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have spent a lot of time breaking my children of the habit of wiping their mouth (or nose) on their sleeve. I don't know which is more disgusting...using 1 square of toilet paper or people wiping their snot on their sleeve. Ewwwww. Do we really need to resort to the dark ages to be good stewards of the enrivonment?

I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.

I have designed a clothing line that has what's called a "dining sleeve." The sleeve is detachable and can be replaced with another "dining sleeve," after usage. The design will offer the "diner" the convenience of wiping his mouth on his sleeve rather than throwing out yet another barely used paper product. I think this idea could also translate quite well to those suffering with an annoying head cold.

Oddly enough, homosexuals have wasted a lot of breath defending themselves against the "gay disease" label of HIV. However, the behavior and apparent fear and expectation in these homosexual communities is that they will contract HIV.

What's more frightening about this behavior is that these individuals are completely selfish. They have not considered the potential disastrous impact their HIV "bug-chasing" could have on the lives of people outside of the homosexual community...innocent people who are potential victims of their dangerous behavior.

Islamic Fanatics Beat Journo in Canada

CHICAGO A journalist for the Mississauga, Ont.-based newspaper The Pakistan Post was assaulted by two men, one armed with a cricket bat, who warned him to stop "writing against Islam" and a Pakistan-based religious organization, the Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) reported Thursday.

Journalist Jawaad Faizi was attacked on the evening of April 17 while sitting in his car outside the home of the newspaper's editor, Amir Arain. The two men smashed the car windows, and repeatedly hit Faizi. They fled when they saw him call 911 on his cell phone.

The attack followed telephoned threats to Faizi and Arain. The night before the attack, the two filed a complaint with the police, also reporting threats they received in January.

"This is a cautionary tale for us, and points to the need for vigilance in the protection of press freedom not just in other countries, but in Canada as well," a statement from CJFE said.
